As a coach I find it really important to try to talk about every player when recapping a game. They’re all so important to everything we do. It’s not just about who scores the most or has the best stats. But whew... Bean was awesome tonight. She finished the game with 27 points and 20 rebounds and played most of the game in foul trouble, eventually fouling out with about 20 seconds left. She had 3 in the first and we left her in. It probably wasn’t the smartest of ideas but I’m not sure we would have won if we didn’t survive the first half. Marsh had a good defensive strategy having a girl stay in the lane to help. We decided to use the girl she was covering as a screener and it led to a big 17 point quarter in the 3rd. EmmyFaith hit some big time shots to give us a bit of separation. Our girls did everything we could to win that game for about 31 minutes. Their pressure in the last minute gave us fits and if the game was any longer it may be a different story. Helm was awesome for them. She attacked Bean knowing Bean couldn’t foul. Abington has so much talent and I’m very thankful they are moving to a different division starting next year. I’d hate to play them twice a year in the near future.
