We lost to Upper Moreland by 15, but there were a lot of positives that we were able to take away from this game. After getting embarrassed last year and losing by 39 points, the game was competitive until midway through the 3rd. We were able to get the lead down to 8 and then Brooke Labban banked in a 3 and we were not able to get it back down to single digits. I told the girls after the game that a lot of our mistakes were inexperience and we just need to see things a little sooner. Jess Shein was a great example of this. She did not score, but she was great on defense and made smart decisions on offense, the shots just didn't fall.
I was proud of how hard the girls battled. With three starters with 3 fouls each in the first half and one of our key bench players sick, I thought that the team competed and our bench did what they could to keep us in it.
Ultimately the difference in the game was that they had the two best players on the floor, that's not a knock on our girls, it's a compliment to Emmy Faith Wood and Holly Gaul. Both players see the floor and both are multidimensional players that are tough to defend. They're talented, well coached and experienced enough to take advantage of any breakdowns or miscommunications that we had on defense. They had 34 of their 46 points.
