Villa Maria Academy vs. Lower Moreland

Lower Moreland Comments
Going into the season I had a lot of questions about our team and what our identity would be. We graduated our leader and leading scorer and team leader (Jess Dugo) and 4 other seniors. We starting the season by beating two teams that we were expected to beat so I was eager to see how we would play against a well coached and more experienced team. I think our girls were also unsure of what to expect. Even though we lost by 14 it was a good game for us to learn from.

Villa Maria is the defending 5A champions and start 5 seniors, so I think that both them and our girls were a bit surprised that we were up by 2 at the half. I thought that we did a nice job defensively of giving them different looks and we did enough on the offensive end to take the 2 point lead into the half.

Coming out of the half we knew that they were going to come out with more intensity and I told that girls that if we can win the first 3 minutes of the half we could win the game, unfortunately it did not work out that way for us. Kathy made some nice adjustments and right now we're not experienced enough to counter them.

When we look at film tomorrow there will be a lot of things that the girls will be able to see what we need to improve on. The effort and intensity are there, the girls are coachable. Friday we have Upper Moreland, another really big challenge so I'm looking forward to see if we can build on what we did in the first half of todays game.
