A win would have been like hitting the Jackpot tonight. Unfortunately, the cards were stacked against us. We had a handful of players with injuries and illnesses that could not play tonight, including our captains. This was a true total team effort. We are extremely proud of everyone on our team that stepped up to play a new or different position as well as in a new formation that they may have learned just yesterday in practice. Many of our reserve players either started and or played in a big chunk of the game. We were just so proud that we were able to get on the scoreboard today against a tough Souderton team and that it almost felt like a win for us. The girls never backed down.
Kudos to Avery Tyler. Avery Tyler is a solid midfielder who was asked to play in the back field tonight and had an impressive game. She had a defensive save as well as preventing Souderton from executing in the circle numerous times. She has such a calm presence on the field and kept playing her game of solid defense especially when we needed her most. The rest of our defense composed of Sophia Kraft, Kelly Hemsley and Hailey Finn also kept a strong Souderton offense out of our defensive circle as much as they could. Ella Marchesi, center midfielder, played consistently tonight always hustling to the ball and never giving up. The outside mids, Carrie Williams and Peyton Flannery kept pushing the ball up the field for the forwards to get it into the circle. Our forwards, Addison Edwards, Kaeli VanDerSluis, Amy Hazell, Emily Aldrich and Riley Flynn were able to get through their strong defense, getting 11 shots on their goalie. Our Goalie, Brianna Lucas, was solid in the goal again tonight turning away an impressive 21 shots on goal.

Today's motto for CB South Field Hockey was: Out Work. Out Hustle. Out Last.
We will continue to work for this and to keep our positive energy alive.

CB South definitely controlled the tempo early in the game. Fortunately, we were able to turn the tide late in the 2nd qtr. As always, CB South did a great job defending their circle. We had numerous chances in the 2nd half and could only score twice, so I'm happy we were able to come away with a win.
