Unfortunately junior starter Rebecca Zakrzewski sprained her ankle at the end of practice yesterday and we needed to adjust our lineup. Sophomore Sam Thomas stepped up tonight and did a great job playing a position she normally doesn't play. We were concerned playing Pennridge because they are a fast, skilled team. Their record is not indicative of the way they play. They had beaten us 2-1 the first time we played by going hard to every ball. The first half of tonight's game was similar, as we were on our heels at times and only able to score one goal when Erin Smith received a pass from Julia Cooper and put it in the back of the cage. At halftime, we discussed our decision-making and shot placement, made some adjustments and took control of the second half. Erin Smith (Anna Shirley assist) scored twice in P3 for her first hat trick of the season. Anna Shirley (Erin Smith assist) then scored twice in P4 for the 5-0 win. Bella Schute and Marielle Mauri had an excellent game at mid as did Lily and Grace Haag and Sarah and Julia Cooper on defense. Congrats to both teams on a hard-fought game.
