Summary:

While Huntingdon Valley hardly fits a description of "home" for the Abington
golf team's heart, it is the designated course for "home" matches; however,
as the course was shut down for the past six weeks, their first "home" match
proved a bit cumbersome for many of the players* -- but not senior stalwarts
Ben Cooley and Rich Thorpe. Cooley shot a one-under 34, which was
highlighted by three birdies; Thorpe, as steady as a metronome, didn't post
much bling, but his 37 did shine. Kris Carr (43) and Chris Gerhardt (43...in
his first contribution this year) managed to turn in decent scores as did
Nick Coyle (44) and Mike Murphy (44). Although the team didn't crack 200,
HVCC is a tough nut, and even though the team was pleased with a win over an
improved Bensalem squad, the team yearns to chop some lumber and show the
C-9 who's in charge.

*Junior Brandon Caine suffered his first disasterous hole of the year,
posting an 11 on the par 4 fifth hole. However, Caine showed great fortitude
on the next hole, chipping in for a birdie 2. Last year's Brandon would have
folded, but this year's Brandon didn't snap...although a shaft did.
