The Ghosts lost their first match of the 2012 season to a strong CR North team at Jericho National by a score of 184-212. Sophomore, Jed Barson, led the team with a score of 41. Barson, with a thirst to rebound from a 52 in his prior match, finished with parring the last three holes to turn in the low score for the team. Senior, Brian Hanley, kept his positivity through a tough match against freshman, Madeline Herr, who carded an Eagle on the 8th hole and a 35 for the round. Hanley, in experienced golfing fashion, smiled and said, “I gave everything I had today”. Senior Captain Nick Coyle’s Achilles heel today was putting missing birdie putts on seven greens and carding a 42. Coyle looks to rebound next week against Tennent. Freshman Matt Shur did not fail to show up to play contributing to his third Varsity match with a 43. Sophomore Conor Breslin contributed to his first Varsity match of 2012 with a 43 as well. Abington host William Tennent at HVCC next Tuesday.
