Council Rock South controlled the ball for the majority of the 1st quarter and took a 1-0 lead on Joey Smith feed from Conner McCaffery. In the 2nd quarter North Penn turned the tables scoring two goals to take a 2-1 halftime lead. Both squads were competing hard during faceoffs and contesting every ground ball. In the opening minute of the second half Joey Smith found the back of the net to even the game at 2-2. North Penn answered with two goals. Caiden Myers’ goal at 8:47 in the 3rd quarter gave the Knights a 4-2 lead. From that point, the defense stood tall for the Golden Hawks who prevented a goal until the final second of the game. Defenders Thomas Gallagher, Jack Heinbach, Josh Geiger, Anthony Carey, Oren Fuchs, Andrew Mannherz, Michael Houser and Harrison Kim all did an outstanding job keeping North Penn from stretching their lead and allowing the offense to get on track.
Council Rock’s offense dug down and scored 3 unanswered goals, all by Joey Smith to give Council Rock South a 5-4 lead going into the fourth quarter. Goalie Billy Houser made several big saves in the second half and finished the game with 15 saves. Joey Smith finished the game with 5 goals. Also contributing in the scoring department for Council Rock South were Conner McCaffery with 1 goal and 2 assists and TJ Shores with an assist. Next Tuesday 5/2, Council Rock South will travel to Neshaminy while North Penn will host Council Rock North.
