McBride Nets 200th Career Goal as Indians Dominate in Rivalry Matchup
In a spirited clash between two proud Bucks County towns—Doylestown, the county seat, and Newtown, its former capital until 1813—Council Rock North and Central Bucks West delivered a heated girls lacrosse matchup with major Suburban One League implications. With both teams jockeying for second place in the league standings and separated by just a few points in the PIAA rankings, the stakes were high and the crowd brought playoff-level energy.
But from the opening draw, it was Council Rock North’s midfielders who set the tone and never looked back. The Indians stormed out to a 5-0 lead, commanding possession on the circle and dictating play on both ends of the field. Their relentless pace and execution powered them to a 13-8 victory, capped by a milestone moment for junior standout Catherine McBride.
McBride, a University of Michigan commit, tallied her 200th career goal during a six-goal performance that also included 1 assist, 4 ground balls, 6 draw controls, and 3 forced turnovers. Her ability to impact the game in every phase fueled the Indians’ offensive rhythm.
“She’s a complete player,” said one coach. “Reaching 200 goals is incredible, but it’s the hustle plays that define her leadership.”
McBride was far from alone in delivering for North. Ellie Carney continued her breakout season with 4 goals, 1 assist, 7 draw controls, and a pair of key ground balls. Olivia Espozito added a hat trick of her own, chipping in 3 ground balls and 6 draw controls to keep CB West on their heels throughout.
Senior playmaker Gabby Mann orchestrated the offense with 3 assists, spreading the ball with poise and precision.
On defense, Council Rock North showcased grit and discipline. Goalie Lucy Carney anchored the unit with a 60% save rate, repeatedly turning away West’s surges. Defenders Keiley Lyons, Abby Steadman, Addison Kohler, and Ella G held firm in front of her, winning key one-on-one battles and clearing the ball under pressure.
With the win, Council Rock North not only tightened their grip on second place in the Suburban One but also solidified their postseason credentials with a statement victory over a talented CB West squad.
