The ghosts lost their home opener to arch rival Cheltenham 2-1. Abington's goal was scored by Ciera Ellison, a senior forward. Cindy Wade played well and drew a penalty kick that could have put the Ghosts up 1-0 but her shot hit the post. Wade also worked a short corner with Emily Willard who crushed a shot off the cross bar. Cheltenham scored their goals off a free kick from Sarah Keeny and a breakaway that beat goalkeeper Ali Dobson to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead before Ellison's tally. The Ghosts pressured Cheltenham in the last ten tense minutes but could not get the equalizer.
