It was a very pleasing team performance today. While there were no standout individuals every player made contributions to the game. The first half was a little disjointed at times. We couldn't keep possession the way we wanted and it took time for us to make adjustments and get consistent pressure in their end. Bensalem's GK made 3-4 really solid saves and then in the 35th minute we were able to find the opening goal through Paige Addis in a scramble around the net. While it wasn't the prettiest of goals having the advantage at half time gave us the confidence to possess more in the second half.
Kaleigh O'Donnell was able to break in to the 18 and serve a ball that deflected into the net off a Bensalem player. After that our possession and ball movement was excellent at times. The third and final goal was scored by freshman Julianna Lanigan on a breakaway from midfield. It was her first goal on Varsity and it was definitely deserved. To see the reaction of Julianna and her teammates in that moment was a great finish to the game for us.
