A real back & forth game today but happy to come out with the win. I’m not sure it was our best performance this season but credit to Pennsbury for applying pressure on us and causing us problems.
Early in the game we had a lot of possession but could only generate a couple of chances until we broke the deadlock in the 20th minute. A ball through their defense found Mia Cairone who was able to outpace their last defender and finish for us. Pennsbury came back and started to create more chances, they tied the game up with 7 mins left, straight away we were able to retake the lead when Audrey Rogan went on a breakaway and fired past the keeper. That lead didn’t last long and Pennsbury equalized just before half on a nice goal.
At half time we made some adjustments defensively and stressed the need for more possession. Ironically our last two goals were from set pieces. Isabella Lanza scored on a great volley on a throw in and then she was able to score on a header off a really good corner from Sydney Linus.
A divisional win is always good and it was great to see us score from set pieces, credit to Bella Lanza for coming up with two really nice finishes.
