We have had a stretch of matches where we have played really well, but haven't been able to get the win. We worked for this win, and it was great to see some of the fundamentals that we have been practicing show on the field today.
Offensively we moved the ball really well through the middle of the field. We were switching our attack and by doing so, we were able to get some strong touches into our forwards. Today was Willow's day in front of net. Mallory Roedig found her on the first goal, which came off a set piece. The second goal, Kyra Favors received a great ball from Abby Engart, and then hit Taylor on the run. Both of Willow's goals showed great determination, confidence and composure.
Our defensive line was also strong today, catching PW offsides thirteen times. We had really strong play today from the entire team. Defensively Skye Kramer, Molly Meakim, Olivia Hendrickson and Annalise Messina were solid. In the middle of the field Abby Engart really controlled the ball. Abby tends to fly under the radar, and our last few matches she has really stepped up into her role on our team. Mallory Roedig and Angelena Martino also had strong performances today.
Natalie Walton had six saves today and was very consistent with her punts and sixes.
It was a good team win.
