Game 14 CB East at Souderton

The first half of the match was very much a stalemate as CB East threw the ball forward and Souderton fought to possess the ball. Neither team was successful in creating a ton of chances. With 16 minutes left CB East was able to hit the top of a crossbar on a lofted ball that never really looked to trouble Souderton's goalkeeper.

With about 3 minutes left in the half Souderton earned themselves a corner kick. Senior Kailee Harwick served in a great ball that was met with a thunderous header from senior Sarah Readinger. The East goalkeeper was able to get behind it but the rebound fell to Junior Rachel Croll who hit the ball into the top corner with a well-placed finish.

Souderton went in the half leading 1-0 in a game that looked like it was anyone's to claim.

The second half continued with neither team taking real control of the match in the opening minutes. With 17 minutes left East earned themselves a corner and managed to hit the post with a good chance. Shortly after East worked the ball up again and hit a shot that was bound for the bottom corner of the far post, but Sophomore Morgan Molyneaux was able to push it just wide.

Souderton had their best chance of the half with 13 minutes left. Souderton worked the ball from their defense to sophomore Taylor Yoder, who then cut inside and slipped a ball to senior Campbell Power. Power had worked herself into an excellent position to unleash the shot but East defended well and deflected for a corner.

After that Souderton withstood a barrage of CB East chances coming from the run of play and set pieces as well. With 5 minutes left in the half East worked themselves into another dangerous attacking position as the ball found an unmarked player in the center, just outside Souderton's 18. Souderton wasn't able to step in time and East punched home an unstoppable finish to tie the match.

At the end of regulation the score was 1-1. The overtime period that followed saw East continue to send the ball forward, appearing somewhat content on the tie, as Souderton struggled to gain and retain possession. The game ended in a tie, which was probably a fair result for both teams.
