Gwynedd Mercy Academy - 2

Souderton was down 2-0 to Gwynedd Mercy Academy at home Monday night and looked as if they were about to drop their third consecutive loss of the season after starting off with a 6-1 record. In ten minutes, the Indians were able to bag four goals to take the victory and get their season back on the right track.

The first half between the two teams proved to be a battle of defenses. Each team tested the waters in attack, but neither was able to break down the other and get on the board. Gwynedd really started to threaten at the start of the second half, rocking the cross bar of a headed effort on a corner kick within the first five minutes. With 26 minutes left to play, Gwynedd unleashed a shot from distance that Souderton goalkeeper Ashlyn Odenwald was able to push away from the bottom corner, but an onrushing attacker knocked in the rebound. A minute later Gwynedd grabbed their second goal after a through ball got in behind Souderton's defense and the Gwynedd attacker was able to control to beat the defense and goalkeeper.

With 18 minutes left Souderton unleashed a series of 1-2 passing up the right side of the field between Gianna Natale and Katie Pazdziorko. Pazdziorko was eventually sprung in behind the defense to unleash a dangerous cross the found Averie Doughty at the back post to bring the Indians within one.

Souderton found the equalizer six minutes later, as Hannah Alderfer collected the ball at the top of the box to unleash a powerful shot for the finish. Less than a minute later, Pazdziorko was back in the action as she snuck in behind Gynedd's defense with speed to let rip a shot that hit off the post and put the Indians ahead. With 9 minutes left, Pazdziorko put the game away with another show of pace in behind the defense and a finish that nestled perfectly in the corner.

Katie Pazdziorko had a stand out game that helped the Indians launch and complete the comeback in less than ten minutes, in a game that seemed all but over after falling down 2-0. Ashlyn Odenwald played her part by making 13 saves for the Indians. Overall the team showed a strong mentality to overcome a two goal deficit. The Indian's will head to Quakertown on Tuesday for their next match.
