Souderton vs. Pennridge

Souderton came out ready to play in what would be one of their best performances of the season. They were winning balls and pressing Pennridge and forcing them into mistakes from the very start of the game. Chances were limited in the first half, but Souderton dominated play and seemed hungry for a win. Pennridge had a few chances against the run of play thanks to their speed up front, but Souderton defended well.

Souderton was able to come out in the second half with the same energy they brought in the first. They fought to be first to every ball and appeared to be on the front foot, but the half lacked quality chances for either team. With a little more than ten minutes left, the fast-paced match went into a weather delay due to lightning.

The half hour break in play seemed to shake things up a bit and the final ten minutes of the match and there were a few more opportunities in the closing moments. Pennridge broke forward and into Souderton's 18 yard box with three minutes left to play. A slotted cross skipped across the face of the goal but there was no attacking player to run onto it.

In the last minute Souderton had an opportunity on a long set piece that was pushed out for a corner. The corner was taken quickly but no one was able to score and end the match in the closing seconds.

Souderton seemed to lose their footing a bit in the first overtime period as Pennridge caught their second win. with four minutes left in the overtime period Pennridge unlocked Souderton's defense with a nice through ball. Senior Sam Harwick was back quick to defend and block the initial shot and senior goalkeeper Lindsey Padziorkio was able to collect the ball.

Pazdziorkio, who had an impressive performance, made a crucial save on a difficult shot with 1:30 left in the first overtime period. Souderton was under attack in the closing seconds of the period, as a Pennridge free kick from about 45 yards out rocked the crossbar. The rebound fell to a Pennridge player who hit what would have been the game winning shot if it weren't for a goal-line clearance from Harwick.

Pennridge had another quality chance off a free kick in the first few minutes of the second overtime period. Another long distance shot called Pazdziorkio into action and she was able to tip the shot off her own crossbar for another great save. In the final minutes of the period, Souderton threw everything they had at Pennridge but Pennridge was able to hang on for the draw.

A well fought match between old rivals.
