Sarah Thomas, a consistent outside back gave Springfield the needed edge when a foul committed by the Pirates resulted in a direct free kick. Sara struck the ball with poise and confidence to net the first goal. Tierney Carabba added the second insurance goal off a ball from Sarah Thomas to finish the game with a 2-0 lead. Julia Boles made some excellent saves to keep her shutouts on a roll.
