Today's conditions were tough on both teams. The first half was played out evenly, however Cheltenham was able to put the ball away. I give lots of credit to Mark and his girls, when given the opportunity to score they did. They have really great set pieces, and they have the talent to finish. 35 second after Cheltenham took a 2-0 lead Upper Moreland's Madison Zachwieja came in off the bench today and the was the spark that ignited the Bear. She was able to beat her defender down the flank, and put a hard shot on net to beat the goalie. Following half time, the Bears gained composure and momentum by playing the simple ball within their system. With strong communication, they were able to generate many scoring opportunities. The first was from combination play between Sarah Veneziale and Kathryn Morrow. The next started with a great run from Maddie Gerlach who generated more combination play between Veneziale and Morrow, to then hit Freshman Emma Frasca with her varsity goal. The last goal for Upper Moreland came from Junior Megan O'Donnell. O'Donnell was crashing the net following Kathryn's shot and timed the rebound perfectly.
Again, it was another great team effort from the Bears. The girls showed true grit today.
