Today's win was a great team effort. It is always a bit tricky at the start of the season, new players figuring it out, new positions, new teammates, and new systems. It took us a little bit to settle in, but once we were able to find our rhythm the girls were able to find each other, possess the ball, and move it through our system well to create offensive opportunities. Four different goal scorers is a great way to start the season. Brogan Neeley was able to settle a six off of Truman and find the back of the net. She showed good composure in front of the goal. Three minutes later, Keiley Hawk broke free on the left flank, Madeline Cox found her, Hawk cut the ball back and was able to place it in the side netting. Our third goal was scored by one of our captains, Lizzie Walker. She was able to perfectly place a corner kick right into the back of the net. There was some great play through our back line into the midfield, and we were able to extinguish Truman's advances. Annalise Messina, Deanna Swedberg, Kiera Hess and Gracie Costello worked very well as a cohesive defensive unit. At the 53 minute mark, we were awarded a direct kick from about 25 yards out. Maggie Brophy struck the ball well, putting it in. Solid minutes were played by Madeline Cox, Keiley Hawk, and Erin Distill.

Again, a great team win, a great way to start the season.
