JV GAME REPORT
SEPT 19, 2012
Wissahickon JV beat Upper Merion, 4-1.
The JV started out slowly today vs Upper Merion. Wiss conceded the first goal of the game about 10 minutes in on an own goal that was accidentally headed over the Keeper. Trailing early, the JV turned the heat up immediately and began to control midfield. Talia tied the game with a nice shot from just inside the corner of the 18 about midway through the first half. Although Wiss controlled possession and the play it was tied at half.
Julie and Nora anchored the Defense that completely shut down Upper Merion who were not able to threaten the Wiss goal for most of the second half. Amanda arrived to start the second half and immediately made a difference. Playing Right Fullback, she repeatedly took the ball from the UM attackers and pushed up the right side. All 3 second half goals came from this side. Brittany and Erika working well with Amanda threatened the UM goal steadily for the first 15 minutes but with no result.
Amanda then was fouled and quickly took the direct kick from 35 yards out; putting a beautiful cross right into the box. It was met cleanly by Becca whose shot put Wiss ahead for good. Within minutes, during another deep right corner attack, Sam pivoted and dropped a perfect back pass to Amanda just outside the corner of the 18. Amanda one timed it perfectly into the far corner for a 2 goal lead. Talia finished up the scoring by scoring her second goal of the game on a loose ball in the box.
It was a fine effort after a slow start. The JV cruised to another victory.
