The Owls picked up their first win of the season with a 2-0 win over Bristol. Over the last few games we have had really good innings but we also had 1 or 2 bad innings. We have spent the last few practices focusing back on basics and it helped a ton.
Bristol had an early rally when they loaded the bases with 2 outs to start the game but Kayla tossed her first strike out of the game to end the threat. Bensalem scored in the first when Megan Klein singled then took second on a defensive miscue and was hit in by a 2 out RBI single up the middle by Lina Sponheimer.
Bristol attempted to start a rally in the 3rd when their leadoff batter hit a single to right center but center fielder Ayva Knowles did a great job cutting the ball off and firing a dart to 2nd to throw her out attempting to stretch it to a double.
Sophomore Adrianna Vargas led off the 3rd inning with a laser home-run to left field (the first of her career). Adrianna has been seeing the ball well but just missing, todays hit was a missile. The wind was blowing straight in and it still got out in a hurry.
Kayla Clarkson finished the game with 11 Ks only allowing 2 hits and 2 walks.
Lina Sponheimer was 1-2 with an RBI including an intentional walk. Lina has been seeing the ball really well she had 6 hits in her last 6 at bats heading into today and started off with a single. Her streak ended when she smoked a ball that Bristol’s 2nd baseman made a diving stop on. Megan Klein had a slow start to the season but looked to be herself today and was 2-3 with a stolen base and a run scored.
Bristol has a talented pitcher in Freshman, Brianna Slack. She hits her spots and has a really nice change up.
