Bensalem's team really showed a TON of heart today. Those girls had a lot of adversity to deal with heading into this game, and they fought as hard as they could from start to end. Lina Sponheimer deserves a ton of credit for stepping into the circle and putting forth a gutsy performance, and Meg Klein was just Meg Klein, she was a near impossible out at the plate, a scary threat on the bases, and played a strong game over at shortstop. The Bensalem team deserves more credit for today's game than the score may indicate.

Our girls definitely got off to a slow and sloppy start, but I was very proud of how they came together and regrouped. Lucy Mills did a great job in the circle once again today, and our defense played very solid behind her. Seirra Klein had an exceptional day at third base defensively helping keep us in the game early, making a foul territory catch going full speed into the dugout fence when things were going a bit haywire in the first inning, and then putting an end to the 2nd inning on an all-out diving catch on a sneaky bunt attempt with 2 runners in scoring position. Having that kind of effort behind our pitchers defensively really makes a huge difference in a game.

Once again it was a total team effort today for the girls from North. We had 13 different girls work their way on base via a hit or walk, and 17 different girls see game time on one side of the field or the other. Those are the type of stats I especially like to see as a coach during a win because the full team efforts are the ones that help a team grow, and all those girls stepping in to play a role (and watching them all support each other the whole time) is just a wonderful thing to see because it shows the true definition of the word TEAM.
