The Owls finally got back in the win column today.

Senior Camryn Pickering got her first ever varsity start today and her first varsity win. On Friday both our starting pitchers faced injuries and were sidelined to start the week. Camryn came to us and said I used to pitch I can step in. She came in relief and pitched 4 2/3 on Monday and said I forgot how much fun pitching is I want to throw again. Not many kids are that selfless she didn’t care about stats she just jumped right in.

Today she tossed 3 solid innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, 2 walks with 4Ks. Brianna Ryan came in relief and tossed 2 scoreless innings with 2 hits and 2 Ks.

Offensively we were able to put it together. Lina Sponheimer was dominate as she has been all season with 3 hits, 5 RBIs and 2 SB. Ashlyn Merz had 2 hits including a double and a sac fly and finished the day with 4 RBIs. Meg Klein had 2 hits, scored 3 runs and had 2 SB. Ayva Knowles was 2-3 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Camryn Pickering and Adrianna Vargas also jumped in on the hit parade with 2 hits a piece.

Klein’s first hit of the day was a single to CF which marked her 100th hit in a Bensalem Uniform. To get 100 hits is something special and Meg hit that milestone as a Junior that’s an impressive feat.
