Central Bucks West Comments
Central Bucks West scored two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to come away with a 5-4 win over Conwell Egan Catholic High School in a game played at the West field. Tied going into the seventh inning, Conwell Egan plated one run on an RBI single to take a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh. Charlotte Kerns led off the bottom of the seventh with a deep fly ball to left field that was misplayed by the Conwell Egan left fielder putting the tying run on second base. Taylor Sheplock drew a walk on a 3-1 pitch to put the go-ahead run-on first base. Katherine James then singled in Addie McMackin on a base hit to tie the score at 4-4. After an intentional walk to Jill Boyle to load the bases, Conwell Egan was able to get the next two batters out, therefore sending Taylor Hooven to the plate with the bases loaded and two out. Taylor Hooven hit the first pitch which was a hard-line drive that the left fielder was not able to come up with thus ending the game in walk off fashion for the Bucks. The hitting stars for Central Bucks West were Katherine James with three hits, as well as an RBI and a stolen base. Sammy Hooven had a double and two RBIs. Marley Swain was two for three with a double and an RBI, and Taylor Sheplock contributed a single and a walk in the winning cause for the Bucks. Ana Glemser turned in another effective game in the circle for the Bucks. Glemser went all seven innings, striking out five while giving up eight hits and only two earned runs. This was Glemser's fourth win as a pitcher for the Bucks. Coach Mike Daher comments, "this was a very good win for us today against a very good Philadelphia Catholic League team. Sandy Hart does an outstanding job coaching the girls at Conwell Egan Catholic and they compete at a very high level. Their shortstop was truly outstanding today. She makes every play and is incredibly efficient as a defensive shortstop. She was involved in two ground ball double plays that helped keep runs off the board for her team. I am extremely proud of our girls that they were able to battle back in the seventh inning and pull out a big win for us today. Ana Glemser was outstanding in the circle again for us and kept us in the game until the seventh by pitching out of some very difficult innings. This was a good win for us today and definitely something to build on moving forward"
