Central Bucks West Comments
Central Bucks picked up a league win against the defending state champions North Penn High School by a score of 6-5. Trailing by a score of 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, CB West was able to plate three runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh for the win. Sienna Lawson went all seven innings in the win for CB West. Sienna struck out a total of eight batters in picking up her second win for the season against one loss. North Penn scored one run in the second inning and four in the sixth before Lawson was able to retire North Penn in order in the seventh to give the Bucks a chance for a comeback win. That comeback started in the bottom of the sixth after North Penn pitcher Bella Nunn walked the first two batters for West Ava Mattes and Jill Boyle. Ana Glemser then hit a bases clearing triple to left center field for the first two runs of the game for West. Chloe Dryden followed Glemser's triple with a sacrifice fly RBI to cut the North Penn lead to 5-3 after six innings. After Sienna Lawson kept North Penn in check in the top of the seventh inning, West would score three runs in the home half to pick up the big win against the defending state champions. In the bottom half of the seventh Sienna Lawon lead off the inning with a walk. Taylor Hooven and Ava Mattes kept the game alive by both getting singles to load the bases with one out. Jill Boyle then lined a single up the middle scoring El Cooper who was running for Lawson, cutting the North Penn lead to 5-4. A bases loaded full count walk by Ana Glemser tied the score at five. Then the game winning hit came off the bat of Chloe Dryden when she drove a fast ball into the right center gap scoring pinch runner Carmela D'Amore with the winning run. Coach Mike Daher, "I felt when we got to the bottom of the seventh if we could get a few runners on base and get to the top of our order that we had a chance to pick up a win against a very strong North Penn team. The bottom of our order came through when Sienna Lawson drew a full count walk and Taylor Hooven and Ava Mattes both had big singles giving us a chance for a win. The bases loaded single by Jill Boyle was incredibly big for us and definitely put us in a position for the win. I felt if we could get to Ana Glemser and Chloe Dryden at that point of the game with runners in scoring position and those two big hitters coming up, we were in pretty good shape. Once Ana drew the full count walk to tie the game, we could not ask for a better scenario than to have Chloe Dryden come to the plate with a chance to win it for us, and that is exactly what happened. She lined a 2-2 pitch into the right center gap for the walk off win." The Bucks are now 2-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.
