Central Bucks West Comments
Central Bucks West took a 10-0 lead into the fifth inning and needed just three outs to end the game after five innings. But Pennridge made the game interesting by scoring six runs in the top half of the fifth and two more in the sixth inning, thus extending the game to a full seven inning game. Ana Glemser started the game and went four shutout innings for the Bucks while striking out six batters and allowing only one hit through the first four innings. After leaving the game and seeing Pennridge battle back from a ten-run deficit to make the game close, Ana was called upon to return to the circle to finish what she had started. Glemser pitched out of a six-inning jam and then struck out all three batters she faced in the seventh to collect the save for the Bucks. In fact, Ana Glemser completed the rare feat of picking up both a win and a save in the same contest. On the day, Glemser gave up only two hits, two earned runs and struck out ten Pennridge batters. Ana Glemser also contributed at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. But she wasn't the only big hitter for the Bucks on this day. Catcher Sammy Hooven also contributed a three-run home run to left center field and drove in a total of five runs on the day. Center fielder Jill Boyle was three for four on the day and also scored two runs and stole a base. Katherine James, Laila Murray, and Marley Swain also contributed hits for the Bucks, who totaled ten hits on the day. Freshmen Taylor Sheplock stole two bases during the game. Mike Daher's comments, "this was a very good win for us against a very competitive Pennridge team that kept battling with us throughout the entire game. After going up 10-0 on them and then seeing Pennridge battle back in making it a very close 10-8 game, it was important for us to tighten up our pitching and defense and to come away with a win. Ana striking out the side in the seventh inning was a tremendous accomplishment and for her to come back into a very close game and to close the game out the way she did gave us a big win and hopefully will be something for us to build on moving forward."
