This afternoon's game was nothing if not exciting. We have to tip our hats to Neshaminy, they battled, they never gave up, and when that team rallies, they really rally. They string things together, and they get the big hits in the right moments. They are well coached, and they believe in themselves, and you can see it in how they play together.

Despite the loss, we had several girls who I thought put forth stellar performances today. Molly Sheehy drove 2 homeruns in back to back plate appearances, and gunned down the only attempted stealing runner by a full step. Taylor Gearhart also had very good plate appearances and did a great job defensively at shortstop. Those girls have really been working hard to take on more of a senior leadership type of role despite only being juniors, and I thought they led well today.

Our youngsters weren't without some great moments also. Freshman Haley Edelman also had a really strong day at the plate, and another bright spot on the day was Freshman Olivia Schlindwein hitting the 100 strikeout milestone. The whole team was really thrilled to see her achieve that honor!

Overall, it's tough to see the disparity in overall hits from today's box score knowing the game ended in a loss. I think our youth definitely showed a little bit today, but that was bound to happen at some point considering the fact that of the 12 girls who got in the game today, only 3 aren't freshman (2 juniors, 1 sophomore). We are learning lots of little things and all of the finer points together this year, and we are going to keep improving. These girls want to get better, and they battle. They will bounce back from today and keep working to improve tomorrow.
