Trailing 6-2 with a runner at 2nd and two outs, the Lady Tigers would not give up. Wolf and O'Brien singled and then Hackbart singled to drive in 2 runs and the score was 6-5 with the tying run at first and Chealsey Jones, the three hitter coming to the plate. Emily Mayhew ended the threat as she went 2-2 on Jones and then struck her out looking with an inside fastball.
Pennridge Comments
Pennridge went up 3-0 in the third as Emily Mayhew and Briana Gery singled. Haley Taylor then drove in Mayhew with a single and then Morgan Labs drove in two runs on a single to right center. Haley Taylor opened the scoring again for Pennridge in the 5th with a solo homerun over the left field fence. Labs eventually scored when Mayhew drew a walk with bases loaded. In the 6th, the Lady Rams would get a much needed insurance run when Taylor and Labs put together back to back doubles, scoring Taylor. Liz Nace picked up the win for Pennridge as she went 6-2/3 innings, scattering 9 hits(all singles), 6 Ks, and no walks. Coach Koehler decided to insert Mayhew in the bottom of the 7th with the tying run on first. Mayhew came up huge striking out Jones, argueably Truman's best player and hitter. At the plate, Mayhew was 3 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI; Taylor went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a home run with 2 RBI; and finally Labs went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI.
