Central Bucks West traveled across the Delaware River to take on the Hopewell Valley Central High School Bulldogs on their home field. Hopewell Valley Central High School is located in Mercer County, New Jersey. Central Bucks West came out on top by a score of 13-1. The Bucks scored two runs in the first, four in the second, six in the third and one more in the fifth and final inning. The Bulldogs were able to push across their lone run in the bottom half of the first inning. Sophomore Kendall Kornuszko picked up her second win on the season, going four full hitless innings for West. Kornuszko struck out six Bulldogs batters, while allowing two walks on the afternoon. Kornuszko was very efficient on the day throwing a total of 62 pitches in her four innings of work, 36 for strikes. The run that was scored on Kornuszo was unearned. Laila Murray was called on to finish out the game for the Bucks and pitched one full inning in relief, allowing no runs on one hit and she walked one batter. Designated player Ana Glemser took the day off from pitching but made up for it at the plate. Glemser combined her power and speed to contribute two triples to the Bucks cause, while driving in four runs on the afternoon and scoring another run after one of her triples. She also contributed a sacrifice fly RBI in her final at bat on the day. Some of the other contributors on offense were Jill Boyle with a single and three runs scored. Boyle also added two RBIs and a stolen base to her stats for the day. Taylor Hooven had an RBI single to right field in the top of the first inning putting the Bucks up 2-0 at the time. Her sister Sam Hooven also contributed and RBI single and drove in her second run with a sacrifice fly RBI to deep left field, scoring Laila Murray who had reached third base on a triple into the left center field gap. Right fielder El Cooper had a single and an RBI on the day and Marley Swain contributed a single and a run scored while playing a solid first base for the Bucks. Coach Mike Daher's comments, "This was a good win for us today because looking ahead to the weather we were not sure if we were going to get in any games this week. So, it was great to get the game in and to pick up a win along the way. Hopewell Valley is a very young team, as I do not believe that they have any seniors on the team. They battled us throughout the game and their pitcher did a good job throwing strikes and keeping them in the game. We got good pitching from Kendall Kornuszko and we were really glad that she was able to give us four solid innings. She has pitched a lot of very effective junior varsity games, so it felt really good seeing her out there winning a game on the varsity level. She is a pitcher with a lot of promise, and we are glad to see her gaining more and more confidence every time she goes out there to pitch. It was really good to see her staying ahead of most of the Hopewell Valley hitters by throwing a lot of strikes early in the count. We have four games over the next seven days, so getting quality innings out of Kendall was important as it gave us an opportunity to rest Ana Glemser today."
