Neshaminy - 7, Chambersburg - 1
The Neshaminy Redskins scored early against the Chambersburg Trojans. Senior Kylee Jones got things going in the bottom of the first inning with a single to the left side. Senior Mia Barone worked her way to a two-out walk to be immediately followed by senior Danielle Monaco who singled up the middle, scoring both Jones and Barone. The Redskins struck again in the bottom of the fourth. Junior Amanda Slabicki led the inning off with a double off the center field fence. Sophomore RyLeigh Bilbrey followed with a sacrifice bunt to advance Slabicki to third. Slabicki scored on the play due to an errant throw. Sophomore Lindsey Gorka earned the final RBI of the game with a hard ground ball to the left side with bases loaded. In the bottom of the seventh inning, things got going quickly for the Redskins. Junior Carena Barr fought her way to a lead-off single to the left side. Senior Kylie Siwek followed with another single to left. Jones then stepped to the plate and blasted the ball over the center field fence for a three-run homerun. Jones, Monaco, and Slabicki each had multiple hits in the day. Siwek, Gorka, Bilbrey, Barr, and junior Kennedie Ruth had one hit each. Jones and Monaco each had multiple RBIs while Gorka had one. Kennedie Ruth earned the win in the circle. Ruth faced 25 batters, striking out 11 and only allowing two hits and one run. The highlight of the game goes to Siwek, Jones, and junior Michelle Baradiej who turned a perfect 4-6-3 double play in the top of the fifth inning. The Redskins advance to the second round of the State tournament and will play Thursday.
