Central Bucks West Comments
Central Bucks West won an extremely hard-fought game against Plymouth Whitemarsh High School by the close score of 3-2. West played two one run games this week losing to Upper Moreland on Tuesday by the score of 1-0 in nine innings and then winning the second one run game against Plymouth Whitemarsh. Ana Glemser threw another outstanding game for the Bucks. Glemser went all seven innings, giving up one earned run, on five hits and two walks. Glemser would strike out eight Colonials hitters, while throwing 138 pitches, 86 for strikes. This was the second game in a row where Glemser only gave up one earned run and has only given up a total of four earned runs spread out over her last three outings. Taylor Hooven remained red hot at the plate, going two for four on the day, with one RBI. Hooven raised her average to .489 on the season, collecting 22 hits in 45 at bats. Hooven also contributed a key two out single in the third inning driving in pinch runner Charlotte Kerns with what would be the winning run on the day. Third basemen Laila Murray had a productive day at the plate with a single and two RBIs. Center fielder Jill Boyle had a hit and scored two of the three runs for West. Ana Glemser helped her own cause by collecting two hits on the day including a hard hit double into the right center field gap in the productive two run third inning for the Bucks. Freshmen right fielder Taylor Sheplock drew two walks on the day and stole a base in the winning effort. Coach Mike Daher's comments on the game, "This was great win for us against a very strong Plymouth Whitemarsh team. Tuesday, we lost a very tough nine inning game against Upper Moreland so we were unsure how we would come out and play today. But, our girls were able to put that tough loss behind them and really focus themselves on beating PW. We had great energy throughout the entire game, got great pitching from Ana again and played solid defense for seven straight innings. Our defense and pitching have really come together for us and if we keep hitting the way we are capable of hitting, I think we can be a tough team to beat going down the stretch. I am super proud of the way our girls played and happy that they were able to put a difficult loss behind them and to come out and play the way they did today. The other positives for us today were that assistant coach Greg Glemser called a great game for Ana Glemser and coach Steve Ryan, who works with our hitters did an excellent job keeping our girls focused at the plate against two very good PW pitchers. And finally, Freshmen catcher Evi Cherry did a commendable job catching Ana in place of our starting catcher Sammy Hooven who was out sick today. And what else can I say about Taylor Hooven except that she has been on an absolute tear of late with ten hits in her last four games. She is hitting .588 during that span of four games."
