Souderton hosted the Haverford Fords for a first round PIAA district 1 playoff matchup Tuesday and won a tough match 3-1. After winning a grueling first set 28-26, Souderton dropped the next set 14-25, but bounced back and won the next two sets 25-22 and 25-23 as Haverford didn't go down lightly. Derek Stefanowicz was a handful as he led the Indians offense with 26 kills and 8 digs, Sawyer Jones also added 19 kills and 9 digs of his own. Gabe Williams dished out 54 assists and added 10 digs. Connor Basile led the Indians defense with 14 digs and had 1 ace. A big factor in the decisive 4th set was when Middle Blocker Gio Iervolino took his game to the next level and recorded 4 kills and 4 blocks in the last set alone, and fittingly had the game winning block to send the Indians to the second round of the District 1 playoffs. For that round two matchup, the Indians travel to #1 ranked Pennsbury at 7pm on Thursday.
