NORTH PENN WRESTLING

BERWYN --- The North Penn Knights went 1-4 at the Five-Star Duals hosted by
Conestoga on Saturday. The Knights defeated Cardinal O'Hara, 50-22, and
lost to CB West (57-22), Sun Valley (30-27), Conestoga (34-29) and
Unionville (35-34). The losses to Sun Valley, Conestoga and Unionville were
hard for North Penn to swallow, as they spilt the bouts evenly, 7-7 in those
three matches, making bonus points the difference. The dual with Unionville
actually ended in a 34-34 tie, but Unionville won the match on the seventh
tiebreaker criteria - the most first points scored in each bout. The
Indians scored first in 7 matches; the Knights scored first in 6.
In the Unionville match, the Knights trailed by 16 points with three bouts
to go, but received a major decision from Evan Conti at 103 and back-to-back
pins by Tyler Romano (112) and Greg Lacoff (119) knotted the match.
Conti was North Penn's only undefeated wrestler on the day, going a perfect
5-0 with two pins, a forfeit, a major decision and a decision.
The Knights (1-8) will return to the mat Wednesday night with a home match
against the Quakertown Panthers.
