Senior Craig Lepre (North Penn) was named a captain of the Albany baseball team for the 2015 season. The North Penn grad has been a mainstay behind the plate for Albany since his freshman season. Playing in 120 games with 102 starts, Lepre boasts a .988 career fielding percentage with 577 putouts. Last season, he batted .273 with 28 RBIs, 10 runs and seven doubles. “We feel Craig should be near the top of the conference in terms of his defensive abilities,” coach Jon Mueller said. “He’s a guy that we hope will lead the pitching staff in the right direction this season and have a bounce back year. He had a great summer in the Northwoods League, and we hope that catapults him into a really productive spring. He’s a real tough weathered guy. He’s got a lot of starts under his belt, he’s been to two conference tournaments, and I think he’s a guy that’s going to be pivotal in us making a return back to the America East Championships this year.”
