BASEBALL
Pace University sophomore Cody Capaldi (Souderton) was named Northeast 10 Co-Player of the Week after his performance in a trio of wins during the week ending April 12. On the road against Adelphi, Capaldi went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and an RBI. In game one of a doubleheader sweep of Saint Rose, he went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. His monster offensive output came in the late contest of the twinbill where he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and six RBIs. In the fifth inning of a tie game, Capaldi blasted a grand slam. One inning later, he belted a two-run double, leading to a 10-9 Pace win. In total, Capaldi hit .583 (7-for-12) with four runs scored and seven RBIs. He added three walks, a pair of doubles and one home run.
Jake Drossner (Council Rock North) threw two scoreless innings in No. 22 University of Maryland’s 6-4 win over Liberty on Wednesday night. He allowed just one hit.
Greg McDonough (Wissahickon) recorded two stolen bases in Widener’s 8-4 win over Hood in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. The sophomore centerfielder is a perfect 20-for-20 on stolen bases attempted this season. He finished the game 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in Moravian’s 18-5 win over Juniata College on Sunday. In Saturday’s 16-0 win over Juniata in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Hanson, was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases.
Justin Andrews (Neshaminy) earned the win with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in Monmouth University’s 14-13 win over Niagara in Saturday’s doubleheader split.
Chris Barr (North Penn) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in RIT’s 13-2 win over Skidmore College in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. In RIT’s 14-7 win in game two, Barr was 2-for-5 with his first collegiate home run, three runs scored, two stolen bases and a pair of RBIs.
Ben Hauser (Central Bucks East) was 2-for-3 with an RBI in Northampton’s 7-3 loss to Camden County College last Sunday.
Trey Guaglionona (Abington) was 3-for-5 with three runs scored while teammate Max German (Council Rock North) had two hits, including a triple, one RBI and three runs in Penn State Abington’s 16-12 win over Gwynedd Mercy on Friday. Anthonoy Pletscher (North Penn) added a double. In Wednesday’s 13-3 win over John Jay College, Greg Mugnier (Abington) earned the win, allowing one run on five hits while striking out three. German was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and one walk. In last Sunday’s 5-0 win over Penn College, Pletscher hit a two-run home run to left center.
Ryan Pater (Central Bucks East) scored a pair of runs in St. Joseph’s 5-1 win over VCU on Sunday. In Wednesday’s 8-7 win over Saint Peter’s, Pater doubled and scored a run.
Dylan Tice (Pennridge) was 2-for-5 with an RBI, run scored and three walks in West Chester’s doubleheader sweep of East Stroudsburg on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 9-5 win over No. 25 Wilmington in the championship game of the 2015 Bill Giles Classic at Citizens Bank Park, Tice was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
Craig Lepre (North Penn) contributed an RBI in Albany’s 8-5 loss to St. John’s on Tuesday.
Chris Hens (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-4 with two RBIS and two runs scored while freshman Mike Cavanaugh (Upper Moreland) also had an RBI single in Gwynedd Mercy’s 16-12 loss to Penn State Abington on Friday. Freshman Brett Kozlowski (William Tennent) walked four times, one shy of a single game record, while scoring three times. In Thursday’s 12-10 win over Centenary, Hens was 2-for-2 with three runs and a walk, both career highs. David Blount (Harry S Truman) added two doubles and a run scored, and freshman Jason Mulvey (Bensalem) contributed a two-run triple. In Monday’s 13-10 loss to Immaculata, Hens was a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kozlowski added a pair of doubles and an RBI. Mulvey was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, Blount was 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Shaughn Wright (Pennsbury) doubled and scored a run. In last Sunday’s 8-4 loss to Marywood, Kozlowski was 3-for-4 with an RBI while Mulvey had one hit and two runs.
Brandon DiBona (William Tennent) was 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and run scored in Chestnut Hill’s 12-8 win over Philadelphia University on Thursday. Patrick Campion (Norristown) was 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs while Patrick Kelley (Central Bucks West) had one hit, three RBIs and a run, and Robert Slagle III (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed an RBI single. In last Sunday’s 16-6 win in game one of a doubleheader split at Dominican College, DiBona was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, three RBIs and two runs, and Slagle was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs. Junior Nobel Unger III (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Kristopher Davis (Central Bucks East) remained unbeaten on the season after holding Drew to one run in Elizabethtown’s 6-1 win in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. He scattered eight hits and allowed one run while walking none and striking out four in seven innings.
Kyle Wenger (Souderton) was 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBIs in Delaware Valley’s 5-2 loss to Manhattanville on Saturday. In Friday’s 5-4 loss to Manhattanville, Wenger had a pair of hits. In Wednesday’s 11-10 walk-off win over FDU-Florham, Wenger was 2-for-4 with three runs scored. In Monday’s 7-6 upset win over 13th-ranked Misericordia, Wenger was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Ryan Henritzy (Council Rock North) was 2-for-3 with a double in Lock Haven’s 9-5 loss to Mansfield in game one of a doubleheader Saturday. In the Bald Eagles 9-5 loss to Mansfield in game two of the twinbill, Henritzy was 3-for-4 with a stolen base. In Friday’s 7-6 loss in eight innings to Mansfield, Henritzy had two RBIs. In Tuesday’s 9-8 win over Pitt-Johnstown, Henritzy had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in a run.
Matt Matricardi (Upper Dublin) did not allow a hit and struck out one in two and one-third innings of relief in Kutztown’s 5-1 win over No. 20 Millersville on Friday. In Kutztown’s 7-1 loss in the opener of the twinbill, Brandon Martinez (North Penn) was 1-for-3 with an RBI. In Wednesday’s 3-2 non-league loss at Adelphi, Matricardi struck out three and did not allow a hit in 2.2 scoreless innings in relief. In Tusday’s 1-0 walk-off win over Bloomsburg in a doubleheader split, Clay Sebesky (Central Bucks East) legged out a bunt single for one of his team’s three hits. In last Sunday’s 8-6 win over Philadelphia University in the opener of a twinbill, Martinez had two hits and scored a run.

In Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to Johns Hopkins, Wright was 2-for-4. In Monday’s 10-9 win over Dickinson, Wright had a pair of hits. In last Sunday’s doubleheader sweep of Ursinus, Wright was 4-for-6 with three runs and three RBIs.
Joey Nieves-Markee (Bensalem) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in Cairn University’s 10-4 loss to New York University on Tuesday. In Cairn’s 3-0 loss in game two, Nieves-Markee also had two hits. In Friday’s 13-7 loss to Marywood, Nieves-Markee was 4-for-5 with three runs scored.
Andrew Check (Central Bucks West) was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in Eastern University’s 4-3 loss to Misericordia on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 14-11 win over Wilkes in eight innings, Check was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, three RBIs and two runs.
Senior Jared Schaffer (Pennridge) pitched Bloomsburg to a doubleheader split with Slippery Rock on Sunday, delivering a complete game effort in the Huskies 4-3 win in the nightcap. In his first career complete game, Schaffer (2-2) scattered nine hits and struck out three while walking one. In Saturday’s 18-9 win over Shippensburg, Brady West (North Penn) had two hits, stole two bases and scored twice. In Friday’s 10-8 loss to Shippensburg, West contributed an RBI single. In Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Kutztown in eight innings, freshman Brandon Birkhead (Central Bucks East) made his first career start. He held the Golden Bears hitless through 3.2 innings and did not allow a run while striking out two and walking five. In Bloomsburg’s 8-7 win in game two, Schaffer tossed a scoreless two thirds of an inning in relief.
Ken McCormick (Pennsbury) contributed an RBI double and scored a run in Philadelphia University’s 12-8 loss to Chestnut Hill on Thursday afternoon. In last Sunday’s 10-7 win over Kutztown in game two of a doubleheader split, Steve Hatala (William Tennent) threw the final 1.1 innings to record his second save of 2015.
Redshirt sophomore Casey Saverio (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-for-2 with three walks and freshman Aden Tully (Council Rock North) had an RBI single in East Stroudsburg’s 10-8 loss to West Chester on Sunday. In Wednesday’s 12-3 win over Le Moyne, Saverio was 1-for-3 with two runs scored while Tully had an RBI single and scored a run. In last Sunday’s 19-12 win over Mansfield, Saverio hit for the cycle. He tripled in the first inning, had a double and single as part of a six-run fourth inning and homered in the seventh to complete ESU’s first cycle since March 15, 2013. His home run in the seventh was his first career home run.
MEN’S GOLF
Penn State Abington junior Mike Lam (Neshaminy) was named the NEAC Men’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 12. The Neshaminy grad shot a three-over par 74 during the Cabrini College Quad Match held at the Rivercrest Golf Club and Preserve. The score left him tied for second individually out of 28 golfers on the day while the Nittany Lions finished tied for second overall at the event.
Lam hit two-over-par to lead Penn State Abington to a 319-363 win over Delaware Valley on Thursday. He posted the lowest score for the Nittany Lions, hitting a 72 on the par 70 course. Sean Ailtmar (Central Bucks South) finished tied for fifth with an 88. In Monday’s Rutgers-Camden Spring Invitational, Lam and Ailtimar both shot an 81 and finished tied for 15th (+11) out of 68 participants. Anthony Giaquinto (Central Bucks South) was tied for 24th with an 84.
West Chester’s Eric Slawter (Upper Merion) placed 11th with a 153 at the sixth annual Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational last Monday at Penn Oaks Golf Club.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Middlebury senior Jordan Glatt (Central Bucks East) took home medalist honors at the Jack Leaman Invitational on Saturday. By firing an even-par 74, Glatt came in first place out of 65 golfers, and Middlebury tied for second place out of 10 teams. The tournament took place at the par 74, 5895-yard Hickory Ridge Golf Club in Amherst, Mass.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Aurora University senior Garret Rosiek (Wissahickon) was named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 12. The attackman led the Spartans to a 2-0 record, scoring seven goals with eight assists and three ground balls.
Rosiek scored three goals with three assists in a 12-9 non-conference win over Augustana College and added four goals with five assists and three ground balls in a 20-4 conference win over Cornell College. On the season, Rosiek has a team-leading 58 points on 35 assists and 23 goals. He also has 26 ground balls.
Rosiek contributed a goal and two assists in Aurora University’s 14-8 win over Concordia on Wednesday. He also was credited with four ground balls.
Senior Patrick Nolan (Plymouth Whitemarsh) forced a pair of turnovers in No. 16 Holy Family’s 16-2 win over Marywood on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 27-2 win over Neumann University, junior Chris Schneekloth (Central Bucks East) had eight wins in his eight face-off chances.
Joe Palo (Hatboro-Horsham) won 10-of-15 face-offs in Eastern University’s 18-6 win at DeSales University on Saturday.
Jacob Snavely (Central Bucks South) and Nick Guglielmi (Council Rock South) scored single goals in Gwynedd Mercy’s 16-9 win over Rosemont on Wednesday.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Cortnee Daley (Hatboro-Horsham scored four goals to lead No. 17 Louisville to a 10-8 win over No. 12 Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., on Sunday afternoon. In Thursday’s 16-8 loss to No. 9 Syracuse, Daley scored three goals. In last Sunday’s 17-9 loss at No. 6 Virginia, Daley scored a pair of goals.
Madi Brunk (Cheltenham) scored three goals and assisted on two others in Messiah’s 15-5 win over Albright on Wednesday.
Kelly Hamilton (Central Bucks South) led all scorers with four goals off of six shots in No. 2 Lock Haven’s 20-1 win over Gannon on Friday.
Liz Mower (Souderton) recorded a career-high 12 points (seven goals, five assists) to lead Philadelphia University to a 24-12 win at Nyack in its regular season finale Saturday. In Thursday’s 17-10 win over Chestnut Hill, Mower became the sixth women’s lacrosse player in Philadelphia University history to record 200 career points. The Souderton grad, who needed four points to be the first Ram to reach 200 points since 2012, achieved the milestone with a goal at the 16:52 mark of the second half to put Philadelphia ahead 13-8 and cap a four-point evening (three goals, one assist). Samantha Ryder (Pennridge) added one goal.
Emily Hawkins (Cheltenham) had a team-best six draw controls to go along with four groundballs and one caused turnover in Keystone College’s 18-4 loss to Rosemont on Saturday. She also scored two goals and has a team-leading 12 goals. In Thursday’s 18-2 loss to Gwynedd Mercy, Hawkins led all players with three caused turnovers while leading the team with three draw controls to go along with three groundballs. She also had two goals.
Jessica Watts (Abington) scored four goals in Penn State Abington’s 19-6 win over Lancaster Bible on Friday. Goalkeeper Corey Pecuch (Council Rock North) recorded seven saves.
Goalie Jen Bergey (Souderton) collected 14 saves, a season best, in Kutztown’s 19-11 loss to Slippery Rock on Saturday. She also picked up a season-high six groundballs. In Friday’s 17-6 loss to No. 7 Mercyhurst, Bergey recorded six saves and also had two groundballs and a caused turnover.
Junior Aly Frymoyer (Upper Merion) made several banner saves and finished the day with 17, two shy of her career high, in Shippensburg’s 16-4 loss to No. 2 Lock Haven on Saturday. Frymoyer’s 163 saves this season leads the PSAC entering the season’s final week. In Friday’s 14-9 loss to IUP, Frymoyer was credited with 14 saves and picked up four groundballs. She recorded double-digit saves for the seventh time this season and has made eight or more saves in 12 of the team’s 14 games, including 10 in a row. In Tuesday’s 23-9 loss to No. 16 West Chester, Frymoyer recorded 10 saves.
Junior midfielder Brynn Dietzel (Central Bucks South) had a pair of goals in Ursinus College’s 14-9 loss to McDaniel on Saturday.
Stephanie Hogan (Central Bucks West) recorded the hat trick in Eastern University’s 16-3 win over Delaware Valley on Wednesday.
Holy Family senior Kimber Kisselback (Neshaminy) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Honor Roll for the week ending April 12. The Neshaminy grad caused a pair of turnovers in each of the team’s wins over conference opponents. Kisselback tied the program’s all-time mark for career caused turnovers at 48. This season, she has totaled 16 caused turnovers, which ranks seventh in the CACC. She has also recorded 29 ground balls, three goals and one assist.
Kisselback caused a pair of turnovers in Holy Family’s 19-12 win at Dominican on Saturday, increasing her season total to 18 and setting a new career high. With the win, Holy Family closed out the regular season undefeated. In Tuesday’s 20-10 win over Philadelphia University, Kisselback recorded a game-high three caused turnovers to become the program’s all-time leader. She entered the game with 48 and now holds the new standard with 51 career caused turnovers. She also picked up a game-high five ground balls.
Jaime Damirgian (Council Rock South) contributed a goal and also had one draw control in Millersville’s 17-8 loss to Seton Hill on Saturday.
Allison Hawkins (Cheltenham) scored two goals and assisted on another in the University of Pittsburgh club team’s 17-5 win over Carnegie-Mellon on April 8. Pitt won its third WCLL Regional Championships this weekend in Pontiac, MI, with a 14-6 win over Miami (Ohio) and a 21-14 win over the University of Minnesota in the title game. Hawkins scored six goals in the title game while teammate Anna Studenmund (Springfield) had a hat trick.
Carly Ball (North Penn) had one goal, three groundballs and three draw controls in Bloomsburg’s 14-13 loss at East Stroudsburg on Friday.
SOFTBALL
Penn State Abington junior Danielle Jones (Harry S Truman) was named the NEAC Softball Player of the week for the week ending April 12. The Truman grad batted .667 to lead Abington to a 5-1 week in conference play, going 12-for-18 at the plate with two doubles, two home runs, six RBIs, nine runs scored, six walks, four stolen bases and no strikeouts for a .750 on-base percentage and a 1.111 slugging percentage. Jones had at least one hit in all five wins and drove in at least one run in four of those contests, beginning with three RBIs on three hits in a 9-1 win over Lancaster Bible that salvaged a doubleheader split. She then scored three runs and drove in two more while smacking a home run and drawing five walks in a doubleheader sweep of Penn State Berks before closing the week going 7-for-9 with a homerun, two doubles, an RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases in a doubleheader sweep of Saint Elizabeth.

Whitney DeLagol (William Tennent) was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. In the Nittany Lions 6-1 win in game one, Emily Wrenn (Hatboro-Horsham) earned the win, allowing four hits and one run (unearned) while walking two and striking out six in seven innings. Nicole Battaglio (Upper Merion) was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. In Tuesday’s 5-3 win over Arcadia, Wrenn earned the win, allowing just three hits over seven innings while walking none and striking out five. Battaglio contributed an RBI.
Emily Hofmann (Pennridge) threw one and two-thirds scoreless innings in relief in IUP’s 6-5 win over Slippery Rock on Friday.
Laura Altenburger (Neshaminy) and Ali Vavala (Central Bucks East) each went 2-for-3 in West Chester’s 9-1 win over East Stroudsburg in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Friday. In Tuesday’s 9-0 win over Mansfield in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Sarah Derstine (Souderton) hit her third home run of the season and recorded three RBIs. Erin Quense (Neshaminy) went deep as well. In Monday’s 3-2 win over Millersville in game two of a doubleheader sweep, Derstine’s RBI double in the bottom of the seventh propelled the Golden Rams to the win. Vavala hit a one-out double to get things started in the bottom of the seventh, setting the stage for Derstine’s game winner. Altenburger and Quense both had RBI singles in the sixth to knot the score 2-2.
Mollie Burrell (Souderton) hit a solo home run in Philadelphia University’s 3-0 win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday. In last Sunday’s 5-1 win over Dominican College, Burrell had a pair of hits.
MaryKate Ballerino (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-2 with a triple, RBI and run scored in Gwynedd Mercy’s 4-3 loss to Centenary on Saturday. Amanda Hesson (Neshaminy) was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Sophomore centerfielder Ashleigh Sharp (Upper Dublin) was 3-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and stolen base in Chestnut Hill’s 4-0 win over Concordia in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Post, freshman shortstop Koraima Dudley (Neshaminy) collected Chestnut Hill’s only hit, a two-out triple in the third inning.
Michelle Holweger (North Penn) drove in a pair of runs in Lock Haven’s 4-0 win over Shippensburg in game one of a doubleheader split Saturday. In Friday’s 3-2 loss in nine innings to Mansfield, Holweger had a pair of hits. In Wednesday’s 5-4 loss to Bloomsburg in game one of a doubleheader split, Holweger delivered an RBI triple. In Tuesday’s 8-0 win over East Stroudsburg, Holweger had two hits and one RBI. In Monday’s 4-3 loss in eight innings to ESU, Holweger was 1-for-2 with two RBIs while pinch hitter Susan Janfranciso (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed a pinch hit RBI single.
La Salle sophomore third baseman Christina Bascara (Pennsbury) was named the Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Week for the week ending April 12. The Pennsbury grad hit .714 (5-for-7) with nine RBIs and a pair of home runs while scoring four runs. She ended the week with an .800 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of 1.714. Bascara hit a grand slam in the first game of a doubleheader against Rhode Island to help La Salle blow open the game on its way to a 10-2 win. In the second game of the doubleheader, Bascara opened the scoring for the Explorers when she delivered and RBI single. In the final game of the series, Bascara helped La Salle secure the series sweep as she broke a 4-4 deadlock in the fourth inning with an RBI single. Two innings later, she hit a two-run home run to give La Salle some breathing room on its way to an 8-4 win.
Sophomore Mackenzie Obert (Pennsbury) went 4-for-7 with a run scored in La Salle’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Saint Louis on Saturday. Obert had a pair of hits in the Explorers’ 5-2 loss in game one. In La Salle’s 2-1 loss in game two. Obert and Bascara both had a pair of hits with Bascara collecting a double. In La Salle’s 10-2 win over Drexel in Friday’s doubleheader split, sophomore Suzanne Swanicke (Pennsbury) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBIs. In Wednesday’s 6-0 win over UMBC in a doubleheader split, Bascara was 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and a run scored. Obert was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a run scored, and Erica Reis (Central Bucks East) also had a two-run home run and scored two runs. In the Explorers 6-1 loss to UMBC in game one, Swanicke hit a solo home run to account for La Salle’s only run. In La Salle’s 8-4 win over Rhode Island last Sunday, Bascara was 3-for-3 with a double, home run, three RBIs and three runs. Swanicke was 1-for-2 with a home run, RBI and run while Reis and Obert each had a double.

In Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Kuttown in eight innings, Parkins allowed just one run on four hits while striking out seven in a complete game effort. In Monday’s 9-5 loss to Bloomsburg, Parkins hit a pair of home runs. She also had a pair of hits in Shippensburg’s 3-1 loss in game one of the twinbill.

Junior Haileigh Stocks (Central Bucks West) had a hit and scored a run in both games of Robert Morris University’s doubleheader sweep of LIU Brooklyn on Saturday. With the pair of wins, Robert Morris moved into a tie for first place in the league standings at the midway point of the NEC slate. In Wednesday’s 4-3 loss to Youngstown State, Stocks allowed only five hits and one earned run in a complete game effort in the circle while adding a 2-for-3 performance at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. She posted her fourth multi-hit efforts in the past nine games. It was the 17th of her career. In RMU’s 2-0 win over Bryant last Sunday, Stocks doubled and scored a run.
Brooke Labs (Pennridge) was 2-for-3 in Marywood’s 11-2 win over Cedar Crest in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. In Monday’s doubleheader sweep of Baptist Bible College, Labs was 2-for-5 with a double in Marywood’s 8-2 win in game one. She was 4-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBIs in a 15-2 win in the nightcap. Labs leads all of Division III in doubles per game with 17 in 27 games.
Starting pitcher Nicole Casagrand (Hatboro-Horsham) allowed one run on three hits in two innings of work in UMBC’s 12-4 win over South Carolina State in game two of Friday’s doubleheader sweep.
Junior Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) delivered an RBI single in the sixth inning of Saturday’s second game of a twinbill with UMBC to knot the score and delivered a two-run single in the 10th to propel Lehigh to a 5-1 win. With Saturday’s sweep of UMBC, Lehigh has now won five consecutive games to improve to 30-6 on the season. The Mountain Hawks have reached the 30-win plateau for the 15th consecutive season. In Friday’s 3-0 win over Boston University, Decker was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. In last Sunday’s 4-3 win over Fordham, Decker contributed an RBI single.
Emily Mayhew (Pennridge) hit a grand slam and drove in a combined six runs to lead Bloomsburg to a sweep of East Stroudsburg on Sunday. In the Huskies’ 7-1 win in game one, Mayhew was 3-for-4 with five RBIs. In Saturday’s 5-3 win over West Chester in game two of a twinbill split, Mayhew’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Huskies the lead for good. In Friday’s 6-5 win in game two of a twinbill split with Kutztown, Mayhew drilled a solo home run. In Wednesday’s 5-4 win in game one of a twinbill sweep of Lock Haven, Mayhew was 2-for-4 with a double, home run, RBI and two runs scored.
Freshman Nikki Alden (William Tennent) was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in St. Joseph’s 5-2 win over Monmouth on Wednesday.
Allison Herbert (Hatboro-Horsham) tossed a complete game three-hitter with five strikeouts in King’s 7-0 win over Delaware Valley University on Wednesday.
Maggie Shaffer (Hatboro-Horsham) tossed a four-hit shutout and struck out four while walking three in Guilford College’s 7-0 win over Bridgewater College in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
Sophomore Ally Horvath (Central Bucks South) earned the win in the circle in Widener’s 7-2 win over Albright in the nightcap of a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday. She allowed two runs (one earned), and she also finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. In last Sunday’s 10-1 win over Hood in game two of a doubleheader sweep, Horvath was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, and she allowed just one hit in four innings of work in the circle, fanning one and walking one.
Freshman third baseman Rachel Hyman (Upper Dublin) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Ursinus College’s 3-2 win over Muhlenberg on Saturday. In Thursday’s 6-3 loss to Washington College, Hyman had a pair of hits.
Susquehanna University senior Morgan Lewis (Council Rock North) was named the Landmark Pitcher of the Week as well as the SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusader for the week ending April 12. Lewis was the starting pitcher in two games that week and finished with two complete games, a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings and struck out 10 while walking only five. In a 10-0 win over Wilkes, Lewis gave up four hits and struck out six. In a 1-0 win over Moravian, she tossed a no-hitter with four strikeouts. On the season, Lewis is 9-3 with a 2.07 ERA, 10 complete games, three shutouts and 58 strikeouts.
Lewis improved to 11-3 on the year with a complete game win in Susquehanna’s 2-1 win over Scranton in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. She struck out five, walked two and allowed one earned run. In Wednesday’s 8-0 win over Lebanon Valley, Lewis struck out 11 while giving up one hit and walking two. In Susquehanna’s 6-1 win in game two, Lauren Creamer (Neshaminy) contributed an RBI single.
Gabbie Berry (Norristown) was 2-for-3 and Maria Spinosa (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-for-4 with an RBI in Millersville’s 6-3 loss to Mansfield on Saturday. Steph Kulp (North Penn) andDanielle DiFilippo (Hatboro-Horsham) both had one hit. In Millersville 5-1 loss to Mansfield in game one of the twinbill, Kulp was 2-for-3 while Heather Lutz (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-2 with a run scored. DiFilippo and Berry (RBI) also had one hit each. In Friday’s 2-1 win over Shippensburg in a doubleheader sweep, Berry was 2-for-3 with an RBI. In Millersville’s 7-0 win over Shippensburg in game one, Kulp was 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI. DiFilippo was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, and Lutz was 1-for-3 with a run. In Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Shepherd in game one of a twinbill sweep, Berry was 2-for-2 with a double and run scored. In Millersville 2-0 win over Shepherd in game two, Berry had an RBI while DiFilippo had a single and run scored. In Monday’s 3-2 loss to West Chester, Lutz had a solo home run. In last Sunday’s 4-1 win over East Stroudsburg, Kulp was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

MEN’S TENNIS
Mohammed Ammouni (Bensalem) earned wins at first doubles (6-0, 6-0) and first singles (8-1) in Penn State Abington’s 9-0 shutout of Keuka College on Saturday. With the win, the team clinched the NEAC regular season title. In Thursday’s 9-0 shutout of Lancaster Bible, Ammouni earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at first singles and was part of the first doubles team that had an 8-1 win.
Gwynedd Mercy junior Peter Brzezinski (Hatboro-Horsham) was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Year. The H-H grad went 7-0 at No. 1 singles against conference foes for the second consecutive season and was 8-1 overall on the year. Along with doubles partner Alexander Channick, Brzezinski had a 6-1 mark versus CSAC teams at No. 1 doubles (7-2 overall). The Hatboro-Horsham graduate was named to the first team in singles, and his doubles team earned second team honors.
Brzezinski, the two-time CSAC Player of the Year, earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles in Gwynedd Mercy’s 5-0 win over Cabrini on Friday. He was part of the first doubles team earned an 8-4 win.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Amanda Shulski (Neshaminy) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at second doubles in Penn State Abington’s 6-3 win over Keuka on Saturday. She was part of the second doubles team that earned an 8-1 win. In Friday’s 5-4 win over Wells College, Shulski was part of the second doubles team that earned an 8-3 win. In Tuesday’ 9-0 win over Lancaster Bible, Shulski earned wins in second singles (6-0, 6-1) and second doubles (8-1).
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
University of Pittsburgh sophomore Chris Spadaro (Council Rock South) had the best distance of his career in the triple jump (14.35m) which was good for seventh place overall at the Virginia Challenge on Friday. His previous best was 14.27m, which he set at the 2015 ACC Indoor Championship Meet.
Johns Hopkins senior captain Mike Spadaro (Council Rock South) led the Jays to a solid finish at the Mount St. Mary’s University Multi meet this weekend, winning the decathlon with a score of 6026. The 10 events are spread over two days, and Spadaro had the best long jump of 6.88 meters (22-6.75) and high jump of 1.91 meters (6-3.25) on day one, which included a 100m dash of 11.27, a shot put of 12.26 (40-2.75) and 400m run in 56.30. On day two, he had a best pole vault of 3.80 meters (12-5.50) and also topped the field in the javelin with a throw of 42.75 (140-3.00) to go along with 110m hurdles in 16.70, a discus throw of 30.95 (101-6.00), plus finishing with the grueling 1500m run in 5:37.32. Spadaro’s point total was the second best ever for a Hopkins athlete and a personal best for him.
IUP’s Austin Cooper (Upper Merion) earned a PSAC qualifying mark in the 800m run with a time of 1:53.22 on the second day of Bucknell University’s Bison Outdoor Classic last weekend.
Saint Joseph’s senior Matt Sutorius (Central Bucks West) posted a season-best time of 58.87 in the 400m hurdles at the Widener Invitational this weekend.
Widener sophomore Nick Pettit (Central Bucks South) crossed the finish line of the 800m run with a time of 1:58.26 at the Widener Invitational on Saturday.
Kutztown’s Chris Varichione (Quakertown) posted two top 10 finishes at Moravian College’s Greyhound Invitational on Saturday. He posted a PSAC qualifying distance in the shot put and finished in ninth place (45-8.5) while tossing a career best heave in the hammer throw (161-10) to place seventh and improve his eighth place standing on the KU all-time record book. Ron Smith (Neshaminy) and Jhaloni Johnson (Springfield) were part of the first place 4×100 relay that posted a time of 42.28, and Smith was also part of the second place 4×400 relay (3:20.86). Johnson was eighth in the 200 meters with a PSAC existing and season-best time of 22.43 while Smith finished 10th with a PSAC existing and career-best time of 22.51. Brnadon Raguz (Central Bucks South) finished 10th in the pole vault with a PSAC-existing vault of 13-11.25 (4.25m).
West Chester’s Chris Stancil (Bensalem) finished third in the 400m event with a time of 50.89 at the ESU All-American Meet on Saturday. Shawn Young (Central Bucks West) finished fifth in the 400m hurdles.
East Stroudsburg sophomore Sean Haggerty (Pennridge) finished first in the long jump with a leap of 22-3.5. Montel Johnson-Troupe (Pennsbury) was eighth in the 200m dash (22.73). Eric Conrad (Souderton) was 18th in the long jump (18-10 ¾).
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Messiah College senior Tiffany Burrows (Quakertown) sprinted into a Messiah Top 10 list at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational this weekend. Burrows finished the 400m dash with a time of 59.01 seconds, good for No. 8 all-time. It was part of a great day for Burrows as she also finished 12th in the 200m dash with a time of 26.78. She also anchored the Falcons’ 4×100 relay, helping the team finish with a season-best time of 51.00 seconds.
Freshman Lindsay Sheehan (Pennridge) was part of Shippensburg’s winning 4×400 relay that posted a time of 3:55.62 at the first SU Track & Field Invitational on Wednesday. She also won the 200 meters in 25.48 seconds, a season PR that puts her eighth in the PSAC. She also ran on the victorious 4×100 relay.
Temple sophomore Megan Schneider (Hatboro-Horsham) finished the 5,000m run in a personal best time of 19:14.00 to place ninth at the Morgan State Legacy meet on Saturday. Sophomore Sydnee Jacques (North Penn) placed eighth in the triple jump (11.59m).
Moravian sophomore Lauren Suelke (Quakertown) placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 10.70 meters (35-1.25) at the Greyhound Invitational this weekend.
Widener senior Amber Char (William Tennent) earned a first place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.42 meters (11-2.50) at the Widener Invitational on Saturday. This height tied a season best for her in the event. She recorded 3.42 meters a few weeks ago at the Danny Curran Invitational. Freshman Allison Gallagher (Souderton) earned a fourth place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:09.31. Gallagher also earned a fifth place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.10.
Bloomsburg senior Tayler Harkins (North Penn) established a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 12.53m (41-1.50) and finished third at the ESU All-American Meet on Saturday. She broke her own school record of 12.33m (40-5.5) set last year. Harkins also was fourth in the discus at 38.79m (127-3.50). Kate Dodds (Upper Dublin) gave the Huskies another victory in the
3000m, finishing first at 10:18.19 and winning by over 30 seconds. In the 800m, Alexis Rankin (Hatboro-Horsham) finished sixth with a time of 2:22.83.
Sophomore Alexis Bell (Norristown) was part of East Stourdsburg’s winning 4×100 relay that posted a season-best time of 48.13 at the 10th Annual All-American Meet at ESU. The time was No. 7 on ESU’s all-time list. Bell finished fourth in the 100m dash with a PSAC qualifying time of 12.59, and she was fifth in the 200m dash with a PSAC qualifying time of 26.25. Kelly Anne Stuetz (Cheltenham) was third in the 400m hurdles, improving her PSAC qualifying time with a time of 1:05.66. She was sixth in the 100m hurdles (15.84) and was ninth in the high jump (5-0 ¼). Mary-Kate Killoran (William Tennent) was 20th in the 800m run (2:34.77).
