MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
James Wilson (Central Bucks South) finished third with a time of 28:25 in Bloomsburg’s 15-50 win over PSU-Schuykill on Saturday.
Henry Colby (William Tennent) was Lock Haven’s top finisher, taking 19th overall with a time of 17:01.1 at the Slippery Rock Mack Cooper Invitational on Saturday. Lock Haven, ranked No. 9, sat out a number of regulars and still finished fifth.
Senior Alexander Kane (Central Bucks East) set a personal course record as he led Penn State Abington to a
first place finish out of five teams in the Charger Invitational on Saturday. Kane finished with a time of 26:48, a full 30 seconds in front of the next finisher, making it the fourth straight year he has won the competition. Billy Donovan (Upper Moreland) finished with a time of 29:57 in 10th place, and Alek Clementson (William Tennent) finished with a time of 30:20 in 13th place.
Junior Alec Brand (Central Bucks East) posted a time of 26:55.1 as Shippensburg’s No. 2 runner at the 2015 Mack Cooper Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University on Saturday. Sophomore Alec Bella (Quakertown) posted a time of 26:55.9. Brand finished 13th overall while Balla was 14th. Ian Davies (Central Bucks West) posted a time of 28:06.8. Shippensburg finished third in the team standings.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Kutztown freshman Stephanie Bresadola (North Penn) placed fourth with a time of 23:45.48 at the Bulldog Invitational hosted by DeSales University on Saturday. It is her third top-15 finish of the season. Redshirt sophomore Olivia Dettore (Central Bucks West) finished 10th overall with a time of 24:04.27.
Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Brittany Finn (Upper Moreland) was 42nd with a time of 26:21.36 and Emily Makara (Council Rock South) was 48th with a time of 26:36.85 at the DeSales University Invitational. Gwynedd was 12th out of 17 teams competing.
Senior Kate Dodds (Upper Dublin) finished first with a time of 22:23 in the 6k race as Bloomsburg defeated PSU-Schuykill 15-50 on Saturday.Jessica Quesenberry (Wissahickon) was fourth with a time of 25:02.
Shippensburg freshmen Jackie Kinkead (Central Bucks East) and Lindsey Gerlach (Central Bucks West) posted dramatic turnarounds from their performances a week earlier, serving as SU’s No. 4 and No. 5 runners on Saturday at the 2015 Mack Cooper Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock. Kinkead finished 13th overall and Gerlach 15th for an SU team that captured the team title. Abbie Todd (Council Rock North) posted a time of 25:16.6, and Sarah Latch (Central Bucks East) finished in 25:45.1.
Lock Haven junior Steph Dowd (Souderton) finished 72nd with a time of 26:51.7 at Slippery Rock’s Mack Cooper Invitational. Lock Haven, ranked ninth in the Atlantic Region, rested several of its top runners in preparation for the upcoming conference championships. The Bald Eagles finished 10th overall.
Temple sophomore Louise Huuki (Central Bucks East) posted a time of 27:01.8 to place 48th in a field of 136 competitors at the Jack St. Clair Memorial Cross Country Championship at Belmont Plateau on Saturday. The Owls finished second among the 18 participating teams.
FIELD HOCKEY
Courtney Konowal (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored her first goal of the year and tallied two assists in Kutztown’s 7-2 win over Mansfield on Saturday.
Leading scorer Rachel Valentine (Souderton) scored in the 16th minute, and the defense held strong as Lock
Haven beat perennial power Penn State 1-0 for the first time in 30 years on Sunday. The win was the sixth straight for Lock Haven (13-2) and marked LHU’s first win over Penn State (5-8) since the 1985 season. Valentine put Lock Haven up 1-0 in the 16th minute on the game’s first shot. The goal was her team-leading 12th of the season and came after she ripped down the right side of the field and flipped the ball far post one-handed. Colleen McCabe (William Tennent) helped anchor the Bald Eagle defense. On Friday, Valentine scored a goal in Lock Haven’s 2-0 win over visiting Massachusetts. The win marked Lock Haven’s first ever versus UMass, the perennial A-10 power. Valentine scored her conference-best 11th goal of the year in the 38th minute as she knocked home a rebound. McCabe was part of a defensive effort that allowed just four shots.
Lauren Becker (Wissahickon) set up the game-winning goal in No. 9 Stanford’s 3-2 win at No. 14 Northwestern on Friday.
Senior Bryn Frankhouser (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed an assist in the University of Scranton’s 4-0 win over Goucher on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Albright, freshman Katherine McVeagh (Springfield) scored her second goal of the year.
Taylor Prichett (William Tennent) contributed one goal and two assists in Delaware Valley’s 5-3 win over DeSales University on Friday. Sophomore Carlie Baldus (Hatboro-Horsham) added one goal and one assist, and sophomore Kara Imes (North Penn) had one goal.
Kristin Donohue (Council Rock South) contributed an assist in Messiah College’s 5-1 win over Arcadia on Saturday.
Lebanon Valley sophomore Rachel Gorman (Central Bucks South) was named the Commmonwealth Field
Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 4. Gorman had the game-winning assist with less than 10 minutes remaining in LVC’s 2-1 comeback victory at Misericordia. The sophomore back led the Dutchmen’s defense against Hood by holding the Blazers to zero shots in a 6-0 victory. She led a unit that allowed just one score on five shots on goal for the week.
Gorman contributed an assist in Lebanon Valley’s 4-3 win over Alvernia on Saturday night.
Kelly Schlupp (Council Rock South) combined with teammate Christina Fabiano to record the team’s sixth shutout of the season in goal in top-ranked The College of New Jersey’s 6-0 win over No. 20 Eastern University on Tuesday.
Senior midfielder Meghan McCullough (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had a goal and two assists as Quinnipiac used three goals off of penalty corners in a 4-0 win over Bryant on Friday. McCullough scored the eventual game winner in the first half off a penalty corner as she found the top of the cage at the 20:29 mark to stake the Bobcats to a 1-0 lead for her third goal of the season.
Katie O’Neill (Council Rock North) hit a career milestone in Gwynedd Mercy’s 7-0 win over Immaculata on
Saturday. The CR North graduate recorded two assists and reached the 100-point career mark. In 77 career games, O’Neill has racked up 35 goals and 30 assists. Maggie Walsh (Central Bucks South) and Kaitlyn Lutz (Upper Merion) each added a goal. In Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Neumann, O’Neill and sophomore Abigail Gabriel (Souderton) each scored a goal.
Alyssa Buckley (Springfield) scored in the 43rd minute of Widener’s 3-2 loss to Stevenson on Saturday.
FOOTBALL
Ralph Reeves (North Penn) led the defense with nine tackles – including one for a loss – in West Chester’s 44-14 win over Kutztown on Saturday. Andrew Cohen (Council Rock South) had five tackles, including 2.5 for a loss and one sack. Shannon Mayer (Norristown) caught a five-yard touchdown pass and had four receptions for 54 yards. For Kutztown, Kenny Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had 10 tackles – nine solo, two for a loss and one sack. Jhaloni Johnson (Springfield) had four tackles. Martin Worgan (Springfield) blocked a punt early in the fourth quarter.
Senior wide receiver Gerard Wendowski (North Penn) had five catches for 118 yards and a touchdown in East Stroudsburg’s 69-7 win at Cheyney on Saturday. It was his second straight game with 100-plus receiving yards after notching 10 catches for 222 yards and two TDs versus Shippensburg.
Freshman Josh Adams (Central Bucks South) had 38 yards on eight carries in Notre Dame’s 41-24 win over Navy on Saturday.
Matt Johns (Central Bucks South) completed 17-of-33 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown in Virginia’s 26-19 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Senior Sheldon Mayer (Norristown) had seven receptions and had a team-high 68 receiving yards in Shippensburg’s 44-34 win over Lock Haven on Saturday.
Redshirt freshman Kip Patton (Norristown) had a 43-yard reception that set up a touchdown in Temple’s 49-10 win over Tulane on Saturday. Patton also had a 19-yard run.
MEN’S GOLF
Tyler Sokolis (Central BucksWest) finished 40th with a score of 81-78-83/242 at the John Dallio Memorial Tournament. TJ Summers (Central Bucks West) rounded out the five-man squad with a score of 94-73-80/247 to finish tied for 51st. St. Joseph’s finished eighth as a team.

Austin Transue (Neshaminy) scored the only goal in Bloomsburg’s 1-0 win over American International College on Wednesday afternoon. Stephen Pieri (Central Bucks South) delivered a pass from the sideline to the center of the box, resulting in a header by Anthony Cerda to a cutting Transue for the game winner.
Tyler Sablyak (Central Bucks West) kicked off the scoring with a goal just 3:42 into the first half of Lock Haven’s 4-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday.
Richard Domico (Neshaminy) scored both of his team’s goals in Penn State Abington’s 2-1 overtime win over SUNY Cobleskill last Sunday. Domico notched his fifth goal of the season in the 13th minute when he finished his shot off a corner kick. Five minutes into overtime, Domico scored the game winner when he slotted home a loose ball in the box.
Sophomore keeper Brian Ehrlich (Hatboro-Horsham) made his first career start in Lafayette’s 1-0 loss to American on Saturday. Despite the outcome, it was an impressive debut as he recorded seven saves.
Tyler Afflerbach (Souderton) recorded six saves in Drexel’s 3-1 loss to UNC Wilmington on Saturday. His performance allowed the Dragons to battle UNCW to a scoreless halftime tie.
Joe Farrell (Wissahickon) picked up his third assist of the season in La Salle’s 3-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
Kevin McKenna (North Penn) notched a pair of goals in Widener’s 7-0 win over Albright on Tuesday. The North Penn graduate opened the scoring in the 20th minute and also found the net in the 67th minute. Kyle Lynch (Upper Moreland) also added his first two goals of the season, scoring in the 69th and 82nd minutes.

Freshman Linzi Wolfe (Quakertown) provided some insurance in her second appearance as a rookie when she scored her first collegiate goal for the only goal of the second period in West Chester’s 4-0 win over IUP on Saturday. Carly Henry (Pennridge) contributed an assist in the contest. In Tuesday’s 7-0 non-league win over Wilmington (Del.), Lexi Brown (Pennsbury) scored a pair of goals.
Alyssa Ryan (Wissahickon) took the initial shot that resulted in a goal on the rebound in Kutztown’s 2-1 win over East Stroudsburg on Wednesday in a rematch of last year’s 2014 PSAC final.

Megan Schafer (Neshaminy) scored her seventh goal of the season in Penn State’s 4-0 win over Indiana on Sunday afternoon. In Thursday’s 1-0 win over Maryland, Schafer scored the game’s only goal.
The McDaniel women’s soccer team debuted in the d3soccer.com poll at 25th when the week 5 poll was released on Oct. 6. It marks the first time in program history that the Green Terror has been in the organization’s top 25 poll. McDaniel (12-0, 4-0) is off to its best start in program history and remain in the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region top 10 at seventh. Sarah McDonald (Pennsbury) is 11-0 in goal, posting a 0.44 goals-against average and .846 save percentage. In Wednesday’s 4-0 win over Dickinson, McDonald was credited with six saves and turned away a penalty kick in the 27th minute.
Freshman Alyssa Christiansen (William Tennent) contributed the first assist of her career in Holy Family’s 5-0 win over Dominican College on Saturday.
Megan Gerhart (North Penn) returned to the starting lineup after being sidelined with an injury and collected her first shutout of the season in Virginia Wesleyan’s 1-0 overtime win over Roanoke College on Saturday night. Gerhart made three saves – one in each half and another in overtime.
Junior Molly Wyman (Abington) scored the second goal in Penn State Abington’s 2-0 win over Cazenovia on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 8-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill, Wyman connected for a hat trick, and Mallory Mugnier (Abington) contributed a goal.

Claire Uhle (Wissahickon) was part of the winning first doubles team in West Chester’s 5-4 loss to Chestnut Hill on Friday. In Wednesday’s shutout over St. Thomas Aquinas College, Uhle earned a win at first singles and was part of the winning first doubles team.
Junior Christine Palazzolo (Abington) was part of the number three doubles team that earned an 8-5 win in Ursinus College’s 5-3 loss to Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday.
Taylor Michener (Central Bucks South) earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles and was part of an 8-0 win at second doubles in Gwynedd Mercy’s 9-0 win at Neumann on Saturday. Kristen Kriebel (Pennridge) and Jenna Caffarello (North Penn) earned 6-0, 6-0 and 8-0 wins at fifth and sixth singles respectively. Kriebel and Caffarello paired up to earn an 8-0 win at third doubles. In Friday’s rain-shortened 7-0 win over Immaculata, Michener earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at first singles and was part of an 8-5 win at second doubles. Kriebel (6-0, 6-1) earned a win at fifth singles. In Thursday’s 8-1 win over Cabrini, Michener earned a hard fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at first singles and was part of an 8-3 win at second doubles. Caffarello notched a 10-8 win at fifth singles. In Tuesday’s 5-3 win over Ursinus, Kriebel (2-6, 6-4, 10-7) earned a win at fifth singles. In last Monday’s 8-1 win at Cairn, Kriebel (6-0, 6-2) and Caffarello (6-4, 7-5) earned wins at fourth and fifth singles respectively. Michener and Kriebel teamed to earn an 8-0 win at second doubles. In last Sunday’s 9-0 sweep of Rosemont, Michener was a winner at first singles (6-0, 6-0) and second doubles (8-0). Kriebel (6-0, 6-0) and Caffarello (6-0, 6-0) earned wins at fifth and sixth singles respectively, and the duo combined for an 8-2 win at third singles.

Senior Audrey Stringer (Pennsbury) tied for a team-high with eight kills in Kutztown’s 3-0 loss to first place Pitt Johnstown on Saturday. Niki Carpenter (Upper Merion) added four kills and two blocks. In Tuesday’s 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg, Stringer led KU with 12 kills. Her 12 kills pushed her career total to 948. She also recorded five blocks and hit .647. Her 189 kills this season currently ranks fourth in the PSAC, and her 3.32 kills per set ranks ninth. Carpenter recorded three kills and a season-high seven blocks.
Freshman Sam Jones (Hatboro-Horsham) matched her career high with 13 digs in Kent State’s 3-1 win over Buffalo on Friday night.
Freshman Eryn Brady (Upper Merion) contributed five kills in York College’s 3-0 loss to Mary Washington on Wednesday.
Freshman Jaime Bonner (William Tennent) set a new season high with 10 kills in Holy Family’s 3-1 win over Caldwell on Saturday. Freshman Candyce Riley (Hatboro-Horsham) led the team with 23 digs in a win that snapped a four-match losing streak to Caldwell, which had won eight of the last nine meetings.
Senior Cassidy Koenig (Upper Merion) tallied a double-double with 37 assists and 10 digs in Cabrini’s 3-1 loss to Stockton in a tri-match on Saturday. In Cabrini’s 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall later in the day, Koenig posted 40 assists. In Thursday’s 3-0 win over Cedar Crest, Koenig had 30 assists. In Tuesday’s sweep of Marywood, Koenig had 31 assists. In a sweep of Rosemont later that same day, Koenig had 25 assists. Freshman Kassie Ockford (Neshaminy) had 11 digs, and freshman Emily Shannon (Upper Merion) had three aces.
Freshman Maddi Richards (William Tennent) racked up 29 digs and sophomore Danielle Dyjak (Abington) had 20 assists in Penn State Abington’s tri-match with Hunter College and Penn State Harrisburg. The Nittany Lions dropped both matches. In Thursday’s 3-0 loss to Immaculata, Dyjak tallied 15 assists.
Stephanie Elechko (North Penn) recorded 15 kills in Eastern University’s 3-0 win over Manhattanville on Tuesday to up her season total to 231.. The win stretched the Eagles MAC Freedom winning streak to 54 straight and their overall record to 19-3 and 4-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Junior Liz Gassman (Abington) had a career-high five aces in Marist’s 3-0 sweep of Quinnipiac on Saturday.
