NESHAMINY 8, PENNRIDGE 3
The visiting Redskins scored a single run in each of the first four innings, and for good measure, they tacked
on four runs in the sixth before the Rams scored three in the bottom of the sixth in a game that was halted in the top of the seventh because of lightening.
Matt Grudza earned the win for the ‘Skins, allowing just three hits and three runs while walking two and striking out two. He helped his own cause by reaching base on all four trips to the plate. The Redskin senior was 2-for-2 with a single and double. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch.
Mike Burns also had a productive day at the plate, singling and driving in four runs. Eric Gale doubled and drove in a run, and Corey Joyce also had a double. Billy Meyer and Tristian McDonald each had an RBI for the Redskins, who held an 8-3 advantage in hits and benefitted from five Ram errors.
For the Rams, Brendan Knouse doubled and drove in a run while Ryan Gordon singled and drove in a run.
Jason Souder absorbed the loss on the mound.
Neshaminy (1-3, 0-1 SOL) will travel to Abington on Tuesday, and Pennridge (1-0, 2-2) will be on the road at Central Bucks West on Tuesday.

PENNSBURY 3, HATBORO-HORSHAM 2
Pete Moore and Joe Pesci have a long history on the baseball diamond, and there’s no such thing as a meaningless game when their two teams meet. In Friday’s non-league meeting, the Falcons and Hatters found themselves locked in a good one.
“We play them every year – it’s two good programs, and we’re two intense coaches,” Pesci said.
The outcome wasn’t decided until the bottom of the sixth when the Falcons pushed the go-ahead run across. Tyrone Hodges drew a leadoff walk, and freshman Justin Massielo followed with a single down the third base line. Justin Ward turned his sacrifice bunt into a base hit, loading the bases with none out. Hodges beat the throw to the plate on Nick Price’s grounder to short, and the Falcons had the only run they would need.
In his first varsity inning, Alec Wilson threw a one-two-three seventh to earn the save for Vaughn Ward – who worked two scoreless innings in relief of Nick Price.
The Falcons collected just six hits off a trio of hurlers, and Price had his team’s two RBIs, delivering an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to knot the score 2-2.
The Hatters collected seven hits, and it was
Jarrett Prendergast’s two-run single in the top of the fourth that gave H-H its only lead of the game. Prendergast and Colin Kennedy both had two hits to lead the Hatters.
Kennedy also started the game on the mound, allowing two hits and one unearned run while fanning three and walking three in three innings. Nick Arbaugh worked an inning in relief, allowing two hits and one run, and Alex Crim, who was charged with the loss, threw the final two.
Pennsbury (2-1, 1-0 SOL) will be on the road at Council Rock North on Tuesday, and Hatboro-Horsham (3-1, 1-0) will travel to Central Bucks South on Tuesday.

UPPER MORELAND 20, HARRY S TRUMAN 6 (5 innings)
The Golden Bears exploded for 16 hits – 10 for extra bases – and 20 runs in Friday’s mercy rule win over the Tigers.
“If we can keep doing that, it will be a lot of fun,” said UM coach Ken Irwin, whose team has scored 30 runs in its first two games combined.
For the first two innings, the teams exchanged two spots, and the score was deadlocked 4-4 heading into the top of the third when the Golden Bears scored four. They added seven in the fourth and five more in the fifth. The Tigers managed just three in that span as the Bears won going away.
The list of offensive heroes was a lengthy one.
Randy Meehl was 1-for-3 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Connor Casey was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored, and Jon Searles was 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored. Tom Jacob was 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored, and Christian Leighton was 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs. Nick DeLucas was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Ryan Lowry was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Brandon Kohn was 1-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
The Tigers, who collected seven hits off a pair of UM hurlers, were led by the 2-for-3 effort of Romeo Sturkey, who hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. Casey Van Horn contributed a double, RBI and run scored. Nate Erhard also had an RBI.
Searles earned the win on the mound, allowing six hits and three earned runs in three innings. He fanned two and walked two. Tom Jacob closed it out, allowing just one hit and walking one in two shutout innings.
