The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters looked to move on from a tough loss to Souderton 24 hours earlier, and they did just that against out of league opponents Villa Maria Academy.
The Hatters managed to finish with another shutout on the season through a core defensive backbone of shortstop Deanna Moyer, third baseman Maddie Brody, and pitcher Taylor Scuibba. Scuibba did not have the same remarkable performance as the previous game, but still managed to pitch a complete shutout and tallied up four strikeouts to compliment it.
The Hatters had scored their first run off of passed ball in the second inning. Bridgette Shaffer laid down a sacrifice bunt in the fourth to give the Hatters a 2-0 lead. A ground ball hit by Brynn Griffith resulted in a defensive error by Villa Maria, allowing two more runs to score.
Hatboro-Horsham was led offensively by Rachael Carney, who recorded a 1-for-3 outing with two stolen bases and Bridgette Shaffer, who went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
The Hatters (3-1, 0-1 SOL) now look to continue to strengthen their out of league record as they host Harry S Truman on Monday at 3:45.

Megan Johnson had a monster game at the plate to lead the Panthers to the non-league win, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a double, home run, five RBIs and a run scored.
Emma McLaughlin (2-for-5), Meghan Klee (2-for-5, 2B, RBI, 2 runs) and Alyssa Wilkinson (2-for-3, RBI) also turned in multi-hit efforts in a contest that saw the Panthers pound out 11 hits. Lauren Beal was 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, and Madison Moyer also chipped in with a single and RBI.
The Panthers scored four runs in the first with Johnson’s grand slam the highlight of the frame, and they added three more in the second, sparked by Beal's three-run home run. They led 10-0 after a three-run fourth and went on top 11-0 before Southern Lehigh scored five fifth-inning runs.
Wilkinson allowed five hits and six runs in a complete game effort, fanning four and walking two.
