NESHAMINY 8, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
Sarah Dowalo was all but untouchable, striking out 12 and allowing just three hits in Tuesday’s shutout win. While the sophomore hurler was working her magic in the circle, her teammates were once against pounding out hits and putting runs on the board.
For the seventh time in as many games, the Redskins scored in the first inning, this time plating three runs – one below their average of just over four. Mackensie Compton continued her torrid offensive production out of the leadoff spot, singling to open the game. Olivia Zaino and Sophie Beretski (RBI) followed with back-to-back singles, and the Redskins were in business. By the time the inning had ended, the ‘Skins led 3-0, and they were just getting started.
Compton’s RBI double in the fourth made it a 4-0 game, and the ‘Skins added four more in the fifth. The inning was highlighted by Rebecca Dixon’s two-run double as well as an RBI double by Compton.
Compton led the Redskins with a 3-for-4 performance that included two doubles and two RBIs. Beretski finished the day 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Neshaminy (7-0, 5-0 SOL) will be on the road at Council Rock South on Thursday, and Harry S Truman (1-8, 1-5) will host Abington.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, PENNSBURY 2
Melanie Wilkinson delivered a two-run home run in the second inning, and the Golden Hawks tacked on a single run in the fifth. That would be enough to hold off a late Falcon rally.
The win was the program’s first over Pennsbury since the two teams began playing each other in 2009.
“(We) got 10-runned by them almost all the time,” coach Greg Heydet said. “They have a young team, and we just got lucky today.”
Interestingly, Wilkinson’s home run in the second inning came on a hit-and-run.
“I’m 4-for-4 with hit-and-runs this year,” Heydet said.
The Falcons held a 9-7 edge in hits.
“They left nine people on base, and we left four,” Heydet said. “Stephanie (Andreoli) was running deep counts, but she battled all game.”
Andreoli, who fanned four, threw 114 pitches. She also delivered an RBI single that plated the Golden Hawks’ third run in the fifth inning.
Wilkinson was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, and Phylicia Wilkov also was 2-for-3.
For the Falcons, Bailee Zaccaro and Mia Pitt were both 2-for-4. Arden Rabiger contributed a double.
Alyssa Hileman, who struck out six, absorbed the loss.
Council Rock South (4-2, 3-1 SOL) will host Neshaminy on Thursday, and Pennsbury (1-6, 1-5) will be on the road at William Tennent.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4, ABINGTON 0
With senior pitcher Amanda Camp watching from the sidelines after her vehicle was rear-ended earlier in the day, freshman Jenn Khantzian was there to answer the call, tossing a neat two-hit shutout. She threw just 86 pitches in the complete game win, striking out eight and walking none.
“Jenna threw really, really well today,” coach John Engelhardt said. “She was hitting her spots and looked good. She was in command and did a really nice job. I was proud of her.”
Nicole Rounsavill’s solo home run in the first spotted the Indians an early 1-0 lead, and when a pair of base runners misread Englehardt’s sign and attempted a double steal, a second run crossed the plate in the fifth.
The Indians added a single run in the sixth when Rounsavill, who was on third base, scored on an errant pickoff throw. In the seventh, Marissa Haynes delivered a solo home run to close out the scoring.
“Marissa has put a lot of work in, and she played really well today,” Engelhardt said. “Where I’m a little frustrated because I know what my girls are capable of doing – we are not putting hits together. When I look at our overall hit numbers, we’re okay, but we cannot put hits together, we cannot put an inning together.
“We’re very aggressive on the base paths, but we did not hit the ball well again today.”
Haynes, who reached base on all three trips to the plate, was 2-for-3. Rounsavill also contributed a pair of hits.
Tuesday’s game began a tough stretch of six games in eight days for the Indians.
Council Rock North (4-0 SOL) will face Villa Joseph Marie in a non-league game on Wednesday, and Abington (3-4, 2-3) will be at Harry S Truman on Thursday.

WILLIAM TENNENT 6, BENSALEM 0
Kalisi Taufalele tossed an impressive four-hit shutout with four strikeouts in the complete game win. It was the senior pitcher’s second shutout in as many games.
“Kalisi pitched well, and I thought we defended well,” coach Biz Keeny said. “We also got some timely hits – and extra base hits.
“We’ve really done a nice job of hitting the gaps, and we executed our bunt game pretty well today. We were able to sacrifice runners. We’re doing all the little things pretty well. Overall, I’m very pleased.”
Marissa Govan got the ball rolling for the Panthers when she led off the top of the first with a solo home run. Tennent added a pair in the second inning and upped their lead to 5-0 in the fifth, thanks to Reilly Dougherty’s two-run double.
Jackie Heim and Kaitlyn Mitros were both 2-for-4 to lead the Panthers 11-hit attack. Brianna Koonce added a triple while Emily Curtis had a double.
After dropping two of their first three games this season, the Panthers have won four of their last five.
“We made a couple of adjustments,” said Keeny, who recently added freshman Kaitlyn Mitros to his lineup in center field. “We’re getting contributions from everyone, and that’s kind of nice.”
William Tennent (5-3, 4-2 SOL) will host Pennsbury on Thursday, and Bensalem (3-7, 1-5) will be on the road at Council Rock North on Thursday.

QUAKERTOWN 7, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2
If the Panthers were looking to get off to a fast start in Tuesday’s game at South, they did just that, thanks to the hot bats of Lauren Beal and Maddie Moyer. After Tara Baglivo led off the frame with a single, Beal delivered a two-run home run. Then it was Moyer’s turn, and the freshman catcher hit a solo shot that spotted the visitors a 3-0 lead before the Titans came to bat.
South got one of those runs back in the third, but the Panthers scored two in the fifth. After Beal drew a free pass, Moyer ripped her second home run of the game. This one put the Panthers on top 5-1.
“She’s a good hitter – that’s why she’s in the four spot,” coach Rich Scott said. “We graduated Maddie Calder, and Maddie Moyer stepped up to the plate.”
The Titans scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Panthers added single runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to earn the important win.
Baglivo led Quakertown’s 13-hit attack with a 4-for-5 effort that included an RBI and run scored. Moyer was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored while Beal (2-for-3, home run, 3 RBIs, two runs) and Nikki Vanelli (2-for-4, 2B, one run) also had multi-hit games.
Alyssa Wilkinson, who added a double to the Panthers’ hit parade, earned the win in the circle, allowing seven hits and two runs (one earned) while fanning four and walking one.
Quakertown (7-3, 4-2 SOL) will host Pennridge on Thursday, and Central Bucks South (6-4, 2-4) will be on the road at Central Bucks West.

SOUDERTON 8, NORTH PENN 7
Freshman Jennifer Klepfer delivered a double off the base of the fence to plate the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh, and in the bottom of the inning, the Indians – thanks to a dazzling over-the-shoulder catch of a ball with trouble written all over it by Savannah Bostwick – escaped with the win over their neighboring rivals. The senior second baseman’s catch in shallow right field with runners on first and second for the game’s final out, according to coach Steph Rummel, was a game saver.
“It was in the outfield between first and second, and she just backstabbed and went into the outfield and caught it over her left shoulder,” Rummel said.
Early on, it looked as though the Indians might be in for a cakewalk after erasing a 1-0 deficit with a six-run outburst in the third inning. That lead grew to 7-1 in the top of the fifth, but the Maidens scored three in the fifth and three more in the sixth to knot the score 7-7. The resilient Indians won it with a run in the seventh.
“We just kept fighting,” Rummel said. “We made a lot of errors, but this was definitely a big win.
“We’re just trying to work on our weaknesses and getting better every game. We’ve been giving up big innings to other teams, and we have to nip that when it happens. I just think we need to be a little more focused and confident – when you’re in the infield, you have to have confidence, and I feel like we’re lacking that a little bit. We just have to find it.”
Klepfer was 2-for-3 with a walk and also ignited the Indians’ third inning explosion with a lead-off single. Brianna Neely was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Missy Wiley was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored.
Alex Scheeler earned the win in the circle.
Souderton (3-3 SOL) will host Central Bucks East on Thursday, and North Penn (5-3, 4-2) will be on the road at Hatboro-Horsham on Thursday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 7, PENNRIDGE 2
By Kyle Morhardt for Suburbanonesports.com
The Pennridge Rams hosted the Hatboro-Horsham Hatters in an important league game for both teams in the early portion of the season. The game was deadlocked 0-0 through three innings until the Hatters opened up the scoring in the top of the fourth when Bridgette Schaffer crossed home plate after a series of errors by the Rams. The Hatters scored one more time in the inning when Kylie Flagler hit an RBI single to allow Kyleigh Dinnien to score from third.
Hatboro-Horsham scored once again in the top of the sixth to go on top 3-0, but this time the Rams answered with one of their own in the bottom of the inning. The Hatters finished off the game with a four-run surge in the top of the seventh. Pennridge managed to score one more run in the bottom of the inning off of a solo homerun by Skyler Hengeveld, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit and Hatboro-Horsham won the game 7-2.
Megan Bauer and Kaylin Bell split time in the circle for the Rams, picking up three and two strikeouts respectively. Bauer was charged with the loss, allowing five hits and two unearned runs in four innings. Kaeli Simmons continued her streak of good outings as she threw a complete nine-strikeout game for the Hatters.
Hatboro-Horsham was led offensively by Bridgette Schaffer who went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI as well as Kyleigh Dinnien, who recorded a 3-for-3 outing complemented with two runs.
Hatboro-Horsham (7-3, 3-3 SOL) will host North Penn in its next league game on Thursday, and Pennridge (4-5, 1-5) travel to Quakertown on Thursday.

The Golden Bears rebounded from Monday’s setback at the hands of Upper Merion to earn a convincing win over the Eagles. Alison Creighton’s solo home run highlighted the three-run outburst.
The Golden Bears increased their lead to 5-0 with two runs in the third and put the game out of reach with four runs in the fifth inning. Once again Creighton was in the middle of the action, contributing a triple. She scored on Kim Benge’s RBI single.
