Non-league
Archbishop Ryan 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 1, (27-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21)
Tonight was special for our Lady Panthers as it was Tennent’s second annual Dig Pink night and the girls played tonight for a cause bigger than themselves, bigger than volleyball. Fans turned out in pink, the energy of the team was palpable, and all proceeds that night went towards the Breathing Room Foundation, a local non-profit that supports breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families as they battle this devastating disease.
One of our own athletes, (junior right side Emma Schubert’s) mom was in the crowd with us today, a survivor and a reminder that we do not fight alone. The girls played their absolute hearts out tonight and though they ultimately dropped the game, it was hard-fought, every single point.
Some notable moments were a season-high kill record for senior outside, Aubrey Lynch with 22 kills along with 4 aces, 13 digs and a solo block; sophomore setter Emma Fenner also had a season-high assist rate with 20 assists, plus 2 kills, 2 aces and 2 block assists to neatly round out her offensive playing; sophomore libero KayKay Lorenz had a wonderfully strong defensive game with 23 digs which added to the teams total of 74 digs this game!
“I am so proud of these girls and how they just got on that court today, played for each other, played as a family, and played for something beyond themselves; proud to be their coach,” said coach Darcy Lockman.
