MEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore guard Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 25 points, which included an 11-for-11 performance at the foul line, and also had three rebounds and a pair of assists in Moravian’s 81-74 come-from-behind win at Goucher College on Wednesday.
Lock Haven freshman Amir Hinton (Abington) was named the PSAC Freshman of the Week for the week
ending Feb. 5, marking the fifth consecutive week and seventh time this season he’s been honored with the award. In a loss to No. 10 Kutztown, Hinton scored a game-high 27 points. He was 11-of-21 from the field, hit one 3-pointer and was 4-of-5 from the free throw line. He added four rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal in 34 minutes of play. Hinton is averaging 23.6 points per game through 20 games, which ranks second in the PSAC and 10th in NCAA DII. Hinton scored 23 points and also had four rebounds and three assists in Lock Haven’s 88-82 loss at Millersville on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 88-72 loss at No. 13 Shippensburg, Hinton had a career night on the glass, pulling down a season-best 14 rebounds. He also scored 16 points, dished out three assists, recorded three steals and added a block.
Freshman Khalil White (Cheltenham) returned to the lineup after a one-game absence and scored 17 points in Penn State Harrisburg’s 83-67 loss to No. 12 Salisbury on Wednesday night.
Senior Ryan Charity (Pennsbury) scored a team-high 18 points in Cabrini’s 90-75 win at Clarks Summit University on Saturday.
Josh McWilliams (Council Rock North) scored 16 points in McDaniel’s 72-60 win over Haverford on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 49-44 loss to Washington College, McWilliams led the Green Terror with 15 points.
John Ryan (William Tennent) scored 21 points in Penn State Abington’s 83-78 loss to SUNY Poly on Sunday afternoon. In Saturday’s 75-62 win over SUNY Cobleskill, Ryan had 14 points. In Wednesday’s 75-72 loss to Lancaster Bible, Ryan scored 13 points.
Gwynedd Mercy senior Arron Goodman (Council Rock North) earned a spot on the CSAC Men’s
Basketball Honor Roll after averaging 21 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting over 73 percent from the floor in a pair of conference wins during the week ending Feb. 5. In the Griffins’ win over Cairn, he had a game-high 23 points on 8-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 at the line along with eight rebounds. He had team-high honors with 19 points in Gwynedd’s win over Rosemont, going 9-of-12 and adding nine boards with a block. On the season, he is ranked sixth in the CSAC in both scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg).
Goodman netted 12 points in Gwynedd’s 101-67 win at Keystone on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 66-60 loss at Immaculata, Goodman had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Anthony Lee (Abington) finished with 20 points, four assists and two steals in No. 9 Kutztown’s 113-75 win over Cheyney on Saturday. Ryan Connolly (Souderton) added 14 points, which included two 3-pointers. In Wednesday’s 83-79 win over Mansfield, Lee scored eight points and finished with a career-high three blocks and three steals. Max Wagner (Pennridge) recorded KU’s second-highest rebounding total with six boards to go along with four points and two steals in just nine minutes.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore Nicole Munger (Central Bucks West) recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in No. 21 Michigan’s 75-66 win over Wisconsin on Sunday.
Freshman Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) scored a team-high 17 points in the University of the Sciences 61-43 win over Nyack on Saturday. The CB South grad connected on 5-of-10 shots from the field with all five baskets coming from beyond the arc. Vitelli added six rebounds and four assists. With the win, the Devils improved to 21-5 and 14-3 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference while earning a share of the regular season CACC title. In Tuesday’s 59-44 win over Philadelphia University, Vitelli scored eight points and also had four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Sammy Lochner (Abington) had four assists and two rebounds while teammate Sajanna Bethea (Pennsbury) had seven points and six rebounds off the bench in St. Peter’s 58-42 loss to Monmouth on Friday.
Freshman Cassidy Quattro (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed 14 points and nine rebounds in Washington College’s 68-62 loss to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 78-50 win over Bryn Mawr, Quattro had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored a team-high 11 points in 15 minutes of action in Philadelphia University’s 88-50 loss to Caldwell on Saturday.
Junior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Penn) scored a team-high 19 points in Chestnut Hill’s 92-78 win over Georgian Court on Tuesday.
Junior Allison Gallagher (Souderton) and freshman Devan Rimmer (Pennridge) scored 17 and 13 points respectively in Widener’s 65-46 win over Hood on Saturday. Brianna Cullen (North Penn) added six points and three assists. In Wednesday’s 83-50 loss to Messiah, Gallagher scored 10 points.
Monet McGorda (Cheltenham) had eight points in Gwynedd Mercy’s 69-49 win at Keystone on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 64-52 win over Cedar Crest College, McGorda had six rebounds and five points.
Freshman Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double in Ursinus College’s 71-63 overtime loss to Dickinson on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 51-33 win at Swarthmore, Konstanzer had nine points.
Taylor Thames (North Penn) scored 12 points in Kutztown’s 78-56 win over Cheyney on Saturday.
Wilkes University basketball junior Sarah O’Hara (Central Bucks West) was named the President of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. O’Hara, who already serves as President of the Wilkes University SAAC, will take over at the conclusion of the 2016-17 school year.
Alysha Lofton (Central Bucks South) collected her 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds as well as four assists and two steals in Albright’s 80-68 win at Lycoming on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 72-39 win over Alvernia, Lofton scored 10 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Eight of her 12 rebounds were on the offensive glass. She also had four steals and three assists.
Aigner Bookard (Cheltenham) scored 13 points off the bench in Cairn University’s 57-53 win over the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators on Saturday. Aigner made a layup to break a 53-53 tie and followed with a pair of free throws to seal the four-point win.
Stephanie Knauer (North Penn) collected her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 12
rebounds in Shippensburg 71-56 win over Mansfield on Saturday. The win was the 15th in a row for the Raiders and is the second longest streak in school history. In Wednesday’s 69-53 win over Lock Haven, Knauer connected on her first six shots, finishing 6-of-8 overall with 14 points. She is shooting 65.7 percent (134-of-204) from the field this season – a mark that currently is tied for the third most accurate season in the history of the conference and the best by any league player in 24 years. SU’s school record for single-season field goal percentage is 63.6 percent (145-of-228) by Shelly Trego in 1991-92.
MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Marist sophomore Daniel Knoll (Wissahickon) was named to the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. To be eligible, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Senior Eric Jensen (Upper Dublin) took first place in the 200 freestyle and was part of the first place 200 relay in Buffalo’s 149-94 win over Cleveland State last Saturday.
Arcadia freshman Mark Preedy (William Tennent) finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.56 at the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday. He also was part of the second place 200 freestyle relay that posted a time of 1:25.98, besting the previous program record set earlier this season. On Friday, Preedy placed fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.88 seconds. On Thursday, Preedy was part of the 200 medley relay that placed fourth with a program record time of 1:36.26, which was nearly two full seconds under the previous mark of 1:38.24 set at this year’s ECAC Winter Championships.
Albright sophomore Tyler Chamberlin (Springfield) repeated as a gold medalist in the 100 breaststroke after he swam an NCAA provisional time of 56.79 in the preliminaries at the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships on Saturday. During his qualifying swim, the sophomore also broke his own school record. In the finals, Chamberlin completed the event in 57.71, which was only .01 seconds off the MAC Championship record. Adam Thron (Hatboro-Horsham) finished in 13th place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.09. Tim Resch (Springfield) finished in 14th place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.13. On Friday, Chamberlin placed 10th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.08 and was part of the second place 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:29.81. Thron earned a 16th place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56.82. On Thursday, Chamberlin was part of the gold medal 200 medley relay team that broke a school record with its first place time of 1:34.18.

For the second year in a row, Berardelli was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women’s Most Outstanding Diver at the MAAC championships. She won the 1-meter board with 258.00 points and took the top spot at three meters after racking up 291.35 points. Marist placed first at the 10-team meet to capture the program’s 18th MAAC title, a conference record.
Arcadia senior Megan Obarowski (Council Rock South) shaved over two seconds off her own school record in the 400 IM as she took silver with a time of 4:42.25 at the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday. Freshman Rachel Samson (Council Rock North) qualified for the 200 freestyle finals, finishing seventh with a time of 2:00.64. She also was part of the 200 free relay team that brought home the bronze medal with a program record 1:39.50. On Friday Obarowski finished seventh in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.49 while Samson won the consolation final in 2:15.23, placing ninth overall. On Thursday, Samson was part of 200 medley relay that won the bronze medal with a time of 1:48.80.
Sophomore Lauren Griffith (Central Bucks East) was part of Widener’s runner-up 200 free relay that punched in a time of 1:37.81 at the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday. The time beat out their previous program record of 1:37.86 established earlier this winter. Griffith and Sammy Grogan (Council Rock North) were part of the 400 free relay that also broke the school record with a time of 4:01.70. On Friday, Griffith and Grogan were part of the 400 medley relay that finished in a school record time of 4:01.70, breaking the previous mark of 4:01.84 set at last year’s championship meet. On Friday, Griffith and Grogan were part of the fifth place 200 medley relay that finished in a season-best time of 1:52.34.

Pitt senior Chris Spadaro (Council Rock South) competed in the men’s 300m for the first time in his career and finished 10th with a time of 34.50 on the first day of the SPIRE Invitational at the SPIRE Institute on Friday.
Shippensburg freshman Brian Iatarola (Central Bucks West) picked up a conference qualifying time in the 5K at the Hemery Invitational in Boston on Saturday. On Friday, junior Alex Balla (Quakertown) moved to seventh in the league in the 3K after posting a time of 8:51 at the Bucknell University Tune Up.
Kutztown freshman Ryan Benner (Pennridge) posted a PSAC qualifying time in the 200m of 23.21 at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. Ogi Ogbonna (Harry S Truman) set a career best in the 200m (24.41).

Monmouth sophomore Allison Taub (Council Rock South) won the shot put with a throw of 46’ 3 ¼” at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invite on Saturday. Brianna Stratz (Central Bucks South) finished second in the 400m dash.
Shippensburg sophomore Jackie Kinkead (Central Bucks East) finished second in the 3,000m with a time of 10:31.58 at the Bucknell University Tune Up on Friday. The time slotted her seventh on the conference performance list. On Saturday at the Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, freshman Dior Alston (Cheltenham) trimmed her season best by more than three seconds in the 400m with a time of 59.04, and freshman Sophia Carrabba (Abington) broke 60 seconds for the first time by crossing the line in 59.75 seconds.
Kutztown sophomore Stephanie Besadola (North Penn) finished fourth in the 800m with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:23.58 at the Monmouth Winter Invitational on Saturday. It is her third PSAC-qualifying event of the season. Olivia Morano (Quakertown) finished 14th in the shot put with a throw of 32-08.50. On Friday, Bresadola ran her fastest mile of the year by .04 seconds, clocking in at 5:15.25 for an existing PSAC cut. Morano won her flight in the weight throw at 39-3. She finished 13th.

Senior co-captain Christian Lizana (Pennridge) contributed 10 kills while hitting .500 on 16 attempts in Vassar’s 3-0 win over Johnson & Wales on Friday.

Mikey O’Brien (North Penn) earned a 5-3 decision at 141 in Kutztown’s 39-6 win over Shippensburg on Thursday night. Jeff Reimel (North Penn) won by forfeit at 197.
Bruce Graeber (Neshaminy) earned an 8-0 major decision at 285 in Bloomsburg’s 27-13 loss to Clarion on Friday.
