PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 14, QUAKERTOWN 5
The host Colonials got off to a 3-0 lead in the first six minutes of the opening quarter and went on to an easy American Conference win on Tuesday. The Panthers scored twice early in the second quarter to get within two at 5-3 but never got any closer the rest of the afternoon.
Brendan Sullivan scored seven goals and added an assist for Plymouth Whitemarsh, which has won four of its last five after an 0-3 start.
Kenny Diamond provided three goals and an assist for the winners. Mike Iannarelli and Matt Scheuring each added a goal and an assist. Chris Ward and Christian Ziernicki each scored goals while Collin Kissane added an assist.
Winning coach Bryan Gregg notes that having eight seniors in the regular lineup has been an asset.
“We have a substantial number of guys that are helping us out at this point,” he said. “In a situation where you’re down a few games early, it’s very easy to kind of fold.
“But we just keep preaching to these guys, and I think they realize that it’s not over. They have plenty of time to kind of turn this around. It just takes one game, and we’re trying to focus on one game at a time and compete throughout the game. I think it’s a credit to these guys and to their hard work that they’ve been able to kind of turn things.”
The Colonials (4-4, 2-1 in conference) will host Archbishop Ryan on Thursday. Quakertown (3-8, 0-3) will travel to Pottsgrove on Thursday.

PENNSBURY 12, NESHAMINY 6
The Falcons capped off an emotional evening with a win Tuesday night’s SOL National encounter at Falcon Field in the Greenfield Cup game. This marked the fourth time the two teams played for the Cup but it was the first since the death of Doug ‘Grandpa’ Greenfield, who passed away earlier this month at age 89. Greenfield, who played collegiate lacrosse at Delaware, founded the Pennsbury lacrosse program 17 years ago. He stayed close to the program to the end of his life.
“He meant so much to us,” said Pennsbury coach Drew Artin. “He started the program and he was always there. He always supported the boys. He reinforced a lot of the fundamentals but also preached about being a team and really believing about Pennsbury and the Falcons.”
Cole Ruoff scored three goals for the Falcons and added a pair of assists. Nick Sutton also scored three goals while Luke Vando, and Bryse Raniello contributed two each. Ryan DeZutel and Ben Abraham scored single goals.
Jake Krefetz added an assist in addition to collecting eight ground balls and winning 18 of 20 faceoffs. Justin Hernandez was 1-of-2 on faceoffs and claimed three ground balls. Jesse Keaton picked up seven ground balls, Nate Racagno six, and Avery Dysart three.
Tim Davis made 12 saves in goal.
Tuesday’s win lifted Pennsbury to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in conference. Neshaminy slipped to 5-5 and 0-3.
The Greenfield Cup series is tied at two victories each.
Neshaminy will host New Hope-Solebury on Thursday while Pennsbury returns to action Friday when it hosts North Penn.
