Elizabethtown’s Mike Christy (North Penn) was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for baseball last spring. With the cancellation
of spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark Conference recognized an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored spring sport. Christy began his senior year prepared to assault the Elizabethtown baseball record book. He reached both 100 career RBIs and runs scored in Florida and was on pace to end his career in the program’s top five in hits. Christy was projected to finish his career first in RBIs (128), second in at-bats (577), third in hits (193) and triples (13), sixth in games played (153), seventh in home runs (13), 10th in runs (120) and 13th in doubles (33) in program history. He posted a career-best 50 runs, 62 hits and 18 doubles in 2018 and had a career-best eight home runs in 2019. Swiger’s favorite memory of Bloomsburg: “Meeting a group of teammates that became extremely close friends of mine is my favorite off the field memory. Everything we do at Bloomsburg on and off the field involves my teammates. Making an impact on others outside of baseball with my teammates has meant a lot to me during my time here. I will be forever grateful for the memories we shared and the relationships built at BU.”

An outfielder through high school and travel softball, Alyssa Booth (Council Rock North) became primarily a shortstop in her freshman year at Keystone College last spring. “She’s been working really hard,” Keystone coach Alison Ritter said. “It’s been an adjustment moving from outfield to primarily shortstop, but she’s been open to learning and practicing and getting her reps every practice. She’s making adjustments hitting-wise as well so I’m excited to see her power really come through. She’s had a few bumps in the road, but she’s a very coachable kid. The few games she did get time at short you could tell she was nervous, but every game that went by she got more and more comfortable with the position. She’s a great kid with a great personality and has adjusted well to the team and her role so far. I’m excited to have a player of her caliber on the team and look forward to her really making an impact next season.”
