UPPER DUBLIN 9, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 6
Sparked by the four-goal effort of Brett Rama, the Flying Cardinals defeated the SOL National Conference champions in a non-league contest on Friday.
“The whole team played well – literally across the board everyone played well,” UD coach Pat Lacon said, going on to credit his bench players as well. “They really kept everyone focused and energized whenever something positive happened.
“It was so contagious that you could feel the energy through all facets in the game. It was truly a whole team effort tonight. The kids were really excited about it. It was a great team win.”
The two teams exchanged goals in the opening period with East’s Nicholas Knepp (Michael Skulsky assist) and Rama each scoring for their squads. In the second period, Andrew Sowers and Rama scored to put the Cardinals on top 3-1 only to watch Evan Bulotta find the net as time expired in the half to make it a 3-2 game at the intermission.
UD opened up a 5-2 lead and still led 8-4 early in the fourth quarter, but goals by Knepp and Jonah Osbore trimmed the Cardinals’ advantage to two. Rama’s fourth goal of the day gave the Cardinals their final margin of victory.
“The seniors stepped up,” Lacon said. “Our offensive players – Andrew Sowers and Brett Rama – stepped up.
“Defensively, Jake Rossman, Matt Sharkey, Patrick Tucker, Seth Miller and really all our defensemen played well. Chris Kohlbrenner is a freshman and just started playing this year, and he played really, really well. Nate Fechter, our goalie, played well.”
In addition to Rama, Vijay Foster connected for a hat trick, and Sowers had one goal and one assist. Will Bailey also had one goal.
Fechter was credited with nine saves in goal.
For the Patriots, Knepp had three goals, one assist and one ground ball. Osborne added two goals and one caused turnover. Bullotta had one goal, four ground balls and one caused turnover. Ryan McCauley contributed one assist and two caused turnovers, and Michael Skulsky added an assist. Mark Lapioli had one ground ball and two caused turnovers, Adding one caused turnover each were Ethan Greenlee and Brennan Coleman.
Heading into Saturday’s district seeding meeting, Upper Dublin (11-6, 8-1 SOL) is 19th in the District One 3A power rankings, and Central Bucks East (13-4, 10-0) is 11th.

WISSAHICKON 9, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 2
The Trojans travelled to Perk Valley to take on a Viking squad that had just one loss and was second in the District One 3A power rankings, and they stunned the Vikings, blowing open a close game in the second half and assuring themselves an opening round bye in the upcoming district tournament.
In the first half, the game turned out to be a highly contested defensive battle with the Trojans holding a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Wissahickon’s defense – led by Jake Licata, Quinn Fonash, Joey Connolly, Ethan Glass, Alex Solomon and EJ Schreiner – was stellar all night.
The Trojans created some separation in the third quarter, going up 6-2, and they played a solid four quarters to earn the win.
Kyle Lehman led Wissahickon’s offense with four goals and one assist. Jackson Intrieri had two goals and two assists. Brody Meyers, EJ Schreiner and Matt Fritz finished with one goal apiece, and Dean Wolfe had one assist.
Fritz was solid once again on the faceoff X for the Trojans, winning 10 of 13.
Wissahickon (14-4, 9-0 SOL) is seventh in the latest District One 3A power rankings.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 13, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
The Hatters closed out their season with a no-doubt-about-it win over the Panthers.
Sam Fink had a hand in five goals, scoring three times and assisting on a pair of goals. Tyler Kim also had a hat trick. Dylan Fesmire and David Benjamin both had two goals while Alex Cerminara and Jaden Mariano each added a goal and an assist. Justin Focht had one goal, and Jake Grier had one assist as well as two ground balls.
Connor Davis led the Hatters’ defense with seven ground balls, and Tommy Pedicone had four ground balls. Danny O’Donnell had two saves in goal in the win.
Hatboro-Horsham closed out conference play with a 7-4 record. The Hatters are 8-10 overall.
