Non-league
HARRY S TRUMAN 56, NORRISTOWN 43
The Tigers turned a 22-21 halftime deficit into a 41-35 lead with a 20-point third quarter. They went on to outscore their hosts 35-21 in the second half to earn the big non-league win.
Davae Vaughn scored nine of his team-high 14 points in the second half while Salahuddin (Sala) Roberts connected on seven of his nine points after the intermission. Juliun Rogers scored six of his eight points in the second half.
Key players: Juliun Rogers (9 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals), Davae Vaughn (14 points, 2 steals, 3 assists), Sala Roberts (9 points, 3 steals)
Harry S Truman coach Randolph Jackson: “It was actually a great, great feeling to get that win after struggling Friday night against Neshaminy (in a 62-45 loss). We had great opportunities against Neshaminy – the shots just didn’t fall. Today, was a great opportunity for us. We got the same looks, but we were able to convert on the offensive end.
“Defensively, they had a really good scheme against us. They sped us up, and essentially, we didn’t do a good job in the first half. We didn’t play our game. They were able to get some open looks to the rim because of a lack of help on the rotation, but in the second half, we made proper adjustments, and the guys really just bought in on the defensive end. So, we were able to pack the paint and blitz as well and were able to get in transition after missed opportunities. We rebounded the ball very well.”
–Props: “Juliun Rogers definitely played a huge role for us. He almost ended with a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds, and he was definitely more aggressive on the offensive end and accepted a challenge on the offensive end that we needed him on both ends, not just defensively. Props to him.
“Props to Norristown – they had a really good defensive scheme against us, especially against Jaden (Luchansky) where they face guarded him, so we had to make an adjustment to that. They did a great job, but our guys played within the offense when Jaden was taken out, and we were able to get some good looks. We just moved the ball well, and Davae (Vaughn) and Juliun (Rogers) again did a great job finishing around the rim. Along with Sala Roberts.”
Up next: Harry S Truman (5-6, 1-3 SOL) will host Council Rock North Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 76, NOTRE DAME 67
Less than 24 hours after edging archrival CB West 48-47, the Patriots returned to the court and defeated Notre Dame in a high-scoring non-league contest.
East led 35-28 at halftime and took a 52-49 edge into the final quarter where they buried 16 of 19 from the free throw line to ice the win. Nolan Behm keyed the Patriots 24-point fourth quarter, scoring 10 points, which included an 8-for-9 effort at the foul line.
The Patriots connected on 10 3-pointers – five in a 25-point opening quarter.
Notre Dame was led by the 32-pointt effort of Will Foley, who scored 20 of his points in the second half – 13 in the third quarter.
Key players: Nolan Behm (21 points), Shane O’Hara-Jamison (14 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds) and AJ Molnar (15 points) led the Patriots’ offense. Graham Smith added 10 points, nine assists and four steals.
Central Bucks East coach Erik Henrysen: “Last night was an emotional game, and East-West means a lot to the entire community. Our quick turnaround today was a battle of preparing for a game and rebounding mentally.
“I thought we showed right away that we were ready offensively. Our theme for the year has been a strong Q3 defensive effort. It’s not ideal but it’s been working for us. We didn’t sub much Friday and knew we needed to utilize our depth. Our bench was ready, and they stepped up.
“Right now, we are figuring out how to win games. Sometimes it’s just a moment or two that makes the difference. Critical decisions and controlling emotions have been our identity. We need to keep that energy, focus and approach when the games are on the line.”
–Props: “Notre Dame’s Will Foley was our entire focus, and he still went for 32. I was really impressed. He was a huge problem for us…super crafty, skilled and could hit from deep. Once he got his fourth foul, we felt a lot more comfortable.
“Nolan Behm was able to take over in the fourth, doing the dirty work and hitting free throws.”
Up next: Central Bucks East (10-2, 2-2 SOL) will host North Penn on Tuesday.

SOUDERTON 45, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 30
The Indians notched their seventh straight win, opening up a 14-8 lead after one quarter and maintaining a lead the rest of the way. Defense was the name of the game for the Indians, who allowed just 12 first-half points.
Key players: Nate Rusike led a balanced Souderton attack with 13 points, Nolan Watkins, Grady Kovach and Chanse Salone each had 10.
Souderton coach Okoteh Sackitey: “It was a good day for the program. It wasn’t our prettiest offensive performance today, but we weren’t concerned with that. We just wanted to find a way to win. We knew Saturday afternoon games were going to be tough after Friday night games. We know that Perk Valley plays hard and is well coached and has good kids. They can beat you if you’re not focused.
“Credit to my kids who were really focused and prepared and hungry. They were just dialed in on a Saturday morning and I appreciated that. It was a team effort. Everyone stepped up, everyone played hard and smart. The maturity, the selflessness – they’re buying in fully to all of that. It was just a good day.
“JV picked up a big win as well in overtime, so we were happy with that as well. The kids are happy. I think we’re getting better each game.”
Getting defensive: “The defense was on point today. We held them to 12 points in the first half. The kids were really locked in on defense. That created some offense for us, and it also held them to 12.”
Up next: Souderton (9-2, 4-0 SOL) will host Central Bucks South in a key SOL Colonial showdown Tuesday.

UPPER MORELAND 39, POTTSGROVE 35
The Golden Bears led 11-6 after one quarter, but the Falcons came back to go on top 20-17 at halftime. Pottsgrove took a 30-28 lead into the final quarter when the Golden Bears outscored their visitors 11-5 to earn the win.
Key players: Larry Hughes (13 points) and Jadon Cybok (9 points) led a balanced offense in a win that was keyed by UM’s defense.
Upper Moreland coach Dan Heiland: “The key to today was our defense. Holding a very talented, high-scoring offense in Pottsgrove to 35 points was critical. We executed the game plan defensively to the best of our ability. We boxed out well, we rebounded really well. Guys like Larry (Hughes), Colson Campbell and Cannon Campbell did a really good job of boxing out and rebounding, not allowing Pottsgrove second-chance opportunities.
“Offensively, we executed at points to allow ourselves scoring opportunities. Our defense led to our offense. We controlled the game for the most part offensively through our defense by really limiting them to many one-and-done possessions, again making good decisions offensively when we were able to run our halfcourt sets and making shots when they were there, making layups, making free throws and making winning plays down the stretch to close out the game.”
Up next: Upper Moreland (10-2, 3-1 SOL) will host Lower Moreland Tuesday.
