NESHAMINY 13, BENSALEM 2 (5 innings)
The Redskins didn’t have to wait long to bounce back from a shutout loss at the hands of Bensalem. Twenty-four hours later, they were back on the diamond, and they took care of business, evening the three-game series with the Owls at one apiece with a no-doubt-about-it mercy rule win.
“It was very encouraging to get back on track today,” Neshaminy coach Dan Toner said. “Our past two games, we played very sloppy. We made a good amount of self-inflicted mistakes on the bases and in the field. To avoid those mistakes, we set some clear goals for the players to achieve throughout the game. We felt that if we could accomplish certain tasks during the game, we would find success….and that we did.”
Neshaminy rode the strong pitching performance of Matt Gryn, who went the distance in the abbreviated five-inning game.
At the plate, Chase Bonner and Dan Marable combined to drive in seven runs.
By the numbers: Neshaminy: Chase Bonner (2-for-3, 3B, 3RBI, 3R), Mike Sassano (3-for-3, 3B, RBI, 3R), Dan Marable (1-for-4, 4RBI)
Matt Gryn (W) (5.0 IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 5K)
Bensalem: Mikey Kramer (2-for-3)

Mike Sassano lined an RBI single to left field, Jake Plebani (RBI) hit a sac fly, and with two outs, Bonner walked to load the bases for Jake Martin, who walked to push in a run. Marable lined a single to right to plate a pair. (5-0)
Bottom of second: Ryan Strazziere doubled to right to open the inning, and he scored when Logan Savage followed with an RBI double. (5-1)
Top of third: With two outs, Mike Sassano lined a triple to right, and he scored on an error. (6-1)
Top of fourth: Bonner walked to lead off the inning, and Martin legged out a bunt single. Both runners advanced on an error on the play. Bonner and Martin scored on back-to-back sac flies by Marable and Wallace. (8-1)
Neshaminy coach Dan Toner: “Matt Gryn was fantastic on the mound. He attacked the strike zone the entire game and did a real nice job mixing up his pitches.
“On offense, Chase Bonner, got our team rolling early. He was able to drive the ball to all fields and execute in big moments of the game.
“Mike Sassano had a great day at the plate as well, going 3-3. All players in the lineup contributed today”

Bradley Horsnall hit a one-out RBI single, but the game ended with a line drive double play. (9-6)
Harry S Truman coach Brian Sinkiewicz on the game: “Our game today against Lower Moreland was a solid team win. Matt Wenger from Lower Moreland had our batters a bit off-balance early on, but I kept telling the guys to stay patient, and the hits would come.
“After being shut out in the first three innings, we managed to score in every inning after that. We really battled hard and took Wenger deep into counts, which helped us get his pitch count up and knock him out of the game in the sixth.
–Props: “Ryan Kerns and Gavin Kenworthy did a great job on the mound, keeping us in the game until we finally got some runs on the board. We also had some exciting moments—Brayden Glover (’28) got his first career hit and RBI, and Chase Hensman (’28) also made his mark with his first hit, RBI, and run. Glover was great defensively too, throwing out three runners, including a strike-him-out, throw-him-out in the bottom of the third.
“Today was a great team effort, and we’re excited for the 2025 season.”
Up next: Harry S Truman (1-0) will host Archbishop Wood in a non-league game Friday, and Lower Moreland (1-2) will host New Hope-Solebury in game one of the three-game series between the two teams on Monday.
