WISSAHICKON 12, ABINGTON 4
There’s simply no stopping Wissahickon.
The Trojans posted their seventh win in as many games this season, rolling to a 12-4 victory over Abington in Monday’s American Conference game.
And while the wins are most important, the Trojans are also racking up individual milestones as well.
Wissahickon goalkeeper Ava Fell recorded the 200th save of her career as part of her 9-save effort. On the opposite end of the field, Alexa McCabe continued her torrid pace, scoring 3 goals to bring her total to 43 goals on the season, an average of more than 6 goals per game.
For Abington, Katie Pennekamp had 1 goal and 2 assists. Goalie Jadyn Bagby turned aside 16 shots.
By the numbers: Wissahickon: Alexa McCabe (3 goals, 2 assists), Sophia Stehlik (2 goals, 2 assists, 3 DC, 1 GB), Sam Farno (2 goals, 1 assist, 2 CTO, 3 GB, 1 DC), Emma Greenberg (2 goals, 1 assist, 3 DC), Lila Marciniak (1 goal, 2 assists, 4 DC), Ellie Stein (1 assist, 2 CTO, 1 GB, 1 INT), Paige Dratch (1 goal), Maddie Radell (1 goal), Ava Fell (9 saves).
Abington: Nora Luskin (1 goal, 1 assist, 2 GB), Erin Ely (1 goal, 2 GB), Charlotte Lowery (1 goal, 1 GB), Katie Pennekamp (1 goal, 2 assists, 1 GB, 4 DC), Carly Hughes (1 assist, 3 GB, 6 DC), Joanna Duff (1 CTO, 1 GB), Grace Warchol (1 CTO, 1 GB), Jadyn Bagby (2 GB, 16 saves).
Wissahickon coach Chuck Wurzbach: “Abington is an athletic team and did a really good job of making it tough for us to get a shot off. If we were able to let one go, Jadyn Bagby was able to shut us down in goal. She has been so good throughout her high school career and today was no different.
“It was very warm on that turf, so we really tried to slow down a bit in the second half when we had the lead. Four away games in 10 days have not been easy, and we haven’t had a real practice during that time. Unfortunately, that led to some sloppy play, but we were able to grit it out. I think we are all happy where we are at this point in the season.”
—Props: “We continue to work effectively on defense. We didn’t get rattled by Abington’s ability to move the ball and then were able to shut them down when they tried to get the ball inside the 8-meter. Ava Fell had a nice game with 9 saves and Reagan McCabe did a nice job anticipating passes that turned into turnovers.
“Offensively, we got production from seven different players who were able to score today.”
Up next: The Trojans (7-0, 4-0 SOL) welcome New Hope-Solebury at 5 pm Wednesday. Abington (2-4, 1-2) will host Lower Moreland at 3:45 pm Wednesday.

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 17, DOCK MENNONITE ACADEMY 9
For two weeks into the new season, New Hope-Solebury has shown improvements and has had a handful of close calls. But the Lions just have not been able to get over the hump and into the win column.
On Monday, the Lions played a great all-around game, with a solid defense sparking a second-half surge as the Lions pulled away to finally break through, earning a decisive 17-9 victory over nonleague opponent Dock Mennonite Academy.
Carolyn Brennan led the Lions with 4 goals, while Cici Capriotti posted a 6-point game and Hailey Castellano had 5 points.

—Flashy freshman: “Gabby Solis has really come on in the last 4 or 5 games. She’s just a freshman but she plays with composure and toughness.”
—Cozza keeps on running: “Ava Cozza, after running a half marathon on Sunday in Philadelphia, provided strong leadership on the defensive end.”

SPRINGFIELD TWP 11, BENSALEM 8
Springfield Twp scored 6 unanswered goals to open Monday’s nonleague game.
But when Bensalem answered, they gave the Spartans a scare and made them work for the 11-8 victory.

By the numbers: Springfield Twp: Shannon Silvius (3 goals, 1 assist), Ella McLoughlin (2 goals, 1 assist), Frankie Rizzo (3 goals), Julie Guicheteau (1 goal, 1 assist), Lucy McDevitt (1 goal, 2 assists), Madison Borzelleca (1 goal, 1 assist).
Bensalem: Carmen DeCaro (2 goals, 1 assist), Julie Leibig (3 goals), Sarah O’Neil (2 goals), Kylie O’Neil (1 assist), Grace Leonard (1 goal).
Springfield Twp coach Katrina Borzelleca: “Bensalem had some girls who would attack and fast break well. They also had lots of speed in the midfield and were able to push the fast break and try to create opportunities off the break. Our defense had to work together to slow them down and stop them from going straight to goal. It was a hard-fought game from both teams.”
—Playing together: “It’s a great thing to see your players be able to trust each other and look for one another instead of forcing the ball and trying to take it themselves. I love to see that every game we have more assisted goals than not. We play as a whole team unit – lift each other up and cheer each other’s successes on both sides of the field. It is amazing to watch as a coach.”
—Props: “Adrianna Demers had some crucial draw controls throughout the game to help Springfield control the ball and get good looks to goal. Our defense really locked in as the game went on and played very well together. Stormii (Schock Sprague) had some crucial saves in goal today throughout the game.”
Up next: Bensalem (3-4, 0-2 SOL) is back in action today on the road at George School at 4 pm. The Spartans (3-3, 1-0) will visit William Tennent at 3:30 pm Wednesday.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 19, HATBORO-HORSHAM 6
Central Bucks East dominated the faceoff circle on Monday, which led to plenty of offensive possessions.
And with attackers like the Patriots have, that translated into bad news for Hatboro-Horsham.
East jumped out to a 6-3 lead after one quarter, then poured in 7 unanswered goals in the second frame en route to a 19-6 nonleague victory.

Central Bucks East coach Kelly Tait: “Our midfield really did a great job today of setting the tone and the pace of the game. They came up with the majority of the draw controls, which allowed us to keep the ball in our offensive end for most of the game. Our attack really worked well together, working through some set plays and keeping possession. Defensively, 9 different players contributed to 12 caused turnovers and kept the ball away from goalie Abby DiAmico, who had 3 saves and 1 caused turnover.”
Up next: The Hatters (0-6, 0-1 SOL) will visit Cheltenham at 3:30 pm Wednesday. The Patriots (4-1, 1-1) travel to Council Rock South for a 3:30 pm Friday game.
