WISSAHICKON 10, ABINGTON 3
(Submitted by Wissahickon lacrosse)
Abington came out first scoring with a lefty shot by Matt Miller. After that goal, the Wissahickon Trojans came out with six straight goals by Link Matozzo, Nolan Pounds (2), Austin Myers, Kyle Intal, and Nolan Reilly to end the half.
The Trojan defense controlled the game with Danny Hussa causing 5 caused turnovers and 9 ground balls. It was a great win for the Trojans. We knew that Abington played a good Plymouth Whitemarsh really well. Today the defense was hungry for a win.
Into the second half, the Trojan attack started to get into synch for goals from Chase Comer, Colin Murphy, Matozzo, and Myers. Abington’s Conor Sullivan had a nice stepdown shot from the left side.
Another great performance from Nolan Reilly (10-13) at the face-off circle that also scored a goal.
BY THE NUMBERS
Austin Myers (2g, 2a, 3gbs, 2cts), Nolan Pounds (2g, 3gbs), Link Matozzo (2g), Kyle Intal (1g, 2a, 5gbs), Chase Comer (1g, 1a, 4gbs, 1ct), Nolan Reilly (1g, 8gbs), Colin Murphy (1g, 6gbs), Dan Hussa (9gbs, 5cts), Cole Lilienfeld (2gbs, 1ct), Charlie Hussa (3gbs), Rory DiJoseph Testa (2gbs) Quasir Sampson (2gb)
Faceoffs: Nolan Reilly 10-for-13, Colin Murphy 2-for-33
Goalie Kyle Crump 4 saves and 1 assist, Liam Ruhren 2 saves
ASSISTANT HC Sean Ruhren: “I have to tip my hat out to Abington’s freshman Sam Ellner. I have worked with Sam many years at the Be Your Best Camps. He did really well out there, making some big saves. There are some really talented players on that side with Pendergnest, Sullivan and Will Woll. The Ghosts came out playing hard to the last minute. We still have a lot of work to do. We left a lot of ground balls out there. I do not know if it was because of the grass, but it’s something we need to work on. It is great seeing our Long Stick Defender Danny Hussa back after his ice hockey season. He is a tremendous player. Next game (Conestoga) will be a big test for the team.”

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 13, NESHAMINY 8
The Indians rallied from a 5-2 deficit to take the lead in the third quarter on their way to the win.
“We made a couple of adjustments on defense,” Rock North coach John Fitzpatrick said.
Jake Wellwood scored four goals, and Ben Wellwood had a five-point game with three goals and two assists to lead the Indians to the conference win. Liam Dudley added a hat trick and one assist.
“Liam Dudley was the spark – the kid has grit,” Fitzpatrick said. “He played great defense while putting in some crucial goals.”
By the numbers: Council Rock North: Jake Wellwood (4 goals, 1 GB), Ben Wellwood (3 goals, 2 assists, 1GB), Liam Dudley (3 goals, 1 assist, 2 GB), Billy McBride (1 goal, 2 assists, 3 GB), Chase Klein (1 goal, 1 assist, 1GB), Ryan Schaffer (1 goal), Peyton Niefer (10 GB), Evan Salvicci (3 GB), Chase Jones (3 GB), Owen Rodowiz (3 GB), Michael Jacoby (1 GB)
Neshaminy: Austin Tvarok: 2G, 1A, Brian Birmingham: 2G, 1A, Evan Martini: 2G, Ryan Ganzel: 1G, 1A, Ryan DeMatteo: 1G, Cayden Weaver: 2A … 9 Faceoff wins
Council Rock North coach John Fitzpatrick: “Neshaminy played way better than their record. With back-to-back games, we came out flat. That’s on me. We fought back from a 5-3 deficit to tie it in the third.”
Neshaminy Coach John Donato: “(We are) Proud of our team for their performance tonight against a skilled and athletic CR North squad. We competed at a high level and played quality lacrosse. Junior defensemen EJ Seitz, Caden Fogleman, Tim Peterson, and D-Middie Gavin Meehan were resilient in front of first-time starting keeper Jaxon Olszewski who recorded 15 saves. Austin Tvarok and Evan Martini were at times effective on the offensive end, but in the end credit CR North for turning the momentum and securing a hard-fought W.”
Up next: Council Rock North (4-2, 1-2 SOL) will host Council Rock South on Wednesday, and Neshaminy (0-8, 0-4) will be on the road at Central Bucks West on Wednesday.
