PENNCREST 11, UPPER DUBLIN 8
The Flying Cardinals faced their toughest test of the young season – a road game against a strong Penncrest squad. They more than held their own and trailed by just a 8-7 score heading into the final quarter when their hosts outscored the Cards 3-1 to earn the win.
By the numbers: Bridget DiMartile (3 goals, 3 assists), Maeve Hogan (3 goals, 1 assist, 2 DC), Anna DiMartile (1 goal, 1 assist, 5 D), Ava Shohen (1 goal, 2 DC), Caroline Stoffel (3 saves)
Upper Dublin coach Dee Cross: “We came out strong against a good Penncrest team. We were tied 3-3 after one quarter and were within one goal at the half and the start of the fourth quarter. We could not capitalize on our possessions to pull any closer than three goals at the end of the game.
“Caroline Stoffel is getting better each game in goal and faced a lot of tough shots today. Our defense always plays tough, but Penncrest was able to take advantage of fast breaks and defensive miscues. It is a great game for us to play to show what our strengths are and what we need to work on.
“The girls never give up and play until the end. We need to bounce back with a game on Monday at Methacton.”
Up next: Upper Dublin (2-1) will travel to Methacton for a non-league game Monday.
