Check out the Black Bear Lacrosse Club recaps for SOL girls’ lacrosse teams in action Monday.

SOL American Conference
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 13, SPRINGFIELD TWP 3
In a game with several subplots, it was the Colonials opening up an early lead on their way to the conference win. A highlight of the game was Maite Jayo reaching the 100-goal milestone.
“Maite is the hardest working person I have ever coached,” PW coach Ellen Reilly said. “She is unselfish and is willing to do whatever the team needs. Without her we would not be the team we are, her work ethic is contagious and her teammates follow her lead.”
Jayo and Grace Harvey led the Colonials with three goals and one assist each.
On the Spartans’ sidelines was PW alum and former PW assistant coach Katrina Metz, who is now the head coach at Springfield Twp.
By the numbers: Plymouth Whitemarsh: Maite Jayo (3 goals, 1 assist), Grace Harvey (3 goals, 1 assist), Riley Martin (2 goals, 1 assist), Soph Gartland (1 goal), Liv Reilly (1 goal), Kaiane Jayo (1 goal), Harper Reilly (1 goal), Ellie Coyle (1 goal), Katie Guarino 1 assist)
Springfield Twp: Frankie Rizzo (2 goals), Shannon Silvius (1 goal)
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Ellen Reilly: “What a nice game against Springfield. Katrina Metz is their coach, and she is a PW alum who I coached years ago. After she graduated from the University of Delaware, she was my assistant coach. She coached with her aunt (Dee Cross) at UD. And is now coaching her daughter at Springfield. What a full circle.”
Springfield Twp coach Katrina Borzelleca: “Our girls played hard today and showed some grit. PW ran some fast breaks in the beginning of the game that we had trouble stopping at first. Our defense came together and made some great stops and slowed down their offense, fast breaks and shots on goal. This defense has had several kids coming in and out with injuries and other things that have happened throughout the season. They have gelled and are able to play so well together no matter what players we put out there.
“Unfortunately, we had put ourselves in a bit of a hole and the girls were hustling hard to work together and create some opportunities when we had possession. When you are down, sometimes it can feel frantic trying to make a play or create something to happen to help your team. I felt like we had several situations where my girls were fighting hard to create those opportunities and we would have a dropped pass, a turnover or a saved shot that would turn it around and give it right back to PW – that can be backbreaking. I give tons of credit to my midfielders as they are some of the hardest working kids I have ever coached … getting to both sides of the field, playing key roles, and playing well.
“This team is a great group of girls with lots of talent – we just need to continue to trust each other, think through situations and work on one goal, one situation, and one possession at a time. We have been playing well and putting things together in each facet of the game, and I look forward to seeing it all continue to come together.”
